Are park visitors ever able to tour Walt's apartment in the firehouse on Main Street? Also, is the light still burning in the window? We're preparing for our first ever Disneyland trip. We live on the East coast and travel quite frequently to WDW. While we love WDW, travelling to the park where Walt actually walked is a dream come true.

As far as it being open to the average Park Guest, no. I am not aware of a Tour that takes you back there either, unfortunately. But Yes! The light is still burning strong in the window. Much easier to see it at night time, but it's a symbolic gesture saying that "Walt Is Always Here". I am a huge fan of Disneyland and hope you guys have a blast.

Thank you! We're so excited!

Be prepared to go back several times. Disneyland is now my home park instead of WDW. Walt's presence is everywhere in the park. It's really magical!

The only way I know of getting into his apartment is by taking the Adventures by Disney Tour of Hollywood/Disneyland.

Don't miss riding in the Lilly Belle (the train car Walt had for his Wife, Lilly). Ask the people at the train station if you can ride it that day if its out and about.

The Walk in Walt's footsteps is the best tour as well if you have a chance to do that sort of thing.

Walt's Apartment is generally only accessible to the public when there's a special auction or event that you're part of - otherwise, it's now used as a sort of "green room" for VIPs to take a break or prepare for a special event.

There are some photos inside the apartment on: Walts Apartment .com though.

Quick note on the Lilly Belle car... it was remodeled from one of the original yellow RETLAW cars and went on the line in 1976, many years after Walt passed away. Japanese Emperor Hirohito and his wife were the first official guests to ride in it.

As a side track, you can see the yellow combine car from the RETLAW consist at Walt's Barn in Griffith Park (Los Angeles), where it has been restored and preserved by the Carolwood Foundation. (Check out: Walts Barn .com)

Touring Walt's apartment would be my dream come true also!! The fire pole that Walt used to slide down from his apartment into the fire station is still there though, so use that as a photo op and know you're on the same pole that Walt was once on.:)

Disser CMHusband had a great post with lots of picures about a year ago. I haven't noticed him posting here in a while and it may be hard to find that thread.

This summer I did the VIP Disney tour that included visiting Walt's apartment above the firehouse and touring the Dream Suite above Pirates. It was an amazing and at times sureal tour. We were served champagne on the inner terrace of the Dream Suite. Following the tour we were escorted via the back entrance onto the PofC ride.

Here's a link to my photo album for the VIP Tour. (A lot of misc. photos from the tour and some are a bit blurry buy you get the idea.)

Thank you all for such great info. and pictures! I can't wait to get there.

I went on the DIS Adventures by Disney tour this summer. We were taken through Walt's apartment and it was a highlight! Very cool experience!
