Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

For those booking with points, there now are select dates available in August and September 2021 that are pricing at 40,000 points per night. October and forward have many dates at 60,000 points, with some dates not available at all for points booking (though cash rates are available, including the Traditional rooms, which normally can be booked with Bonvoy points).

There are reports of trips being cancelled, due to guests’ concerns about the current conditions. So, as others have posted, check to see if any of your upcoming stays have lower rates - that includes booking with points.

Any advice would be so helpful and appreciated!! You are all so wonderful, so I thank you in advance for any help :)
Call S/D direct M-F 8-4 Eastern, and ask for In-House Reservations. 407-934-4000

Do they check to make sure that the people using the park buses are guests of the Swan or Dolphin or can anyone get on the buses?
They don't check. At one point there were signs at YC, but those were directed at those coming from Epcot and overwhelming the buses. Using the Disney bus service is totally okay, Disney even confirmed it. You can see the link in my previous post.

So the Mears buses that the S/D use don’t limit their passengers to S/D resort guests? I am wondering if a guest staying at the BC could ride the S/D bus. I know that most people do the opposite but I like to know all the options. :)

@Wood Nymph good question, I don't think anyone has said they are asking for ID either. Thinking over the past year I don't think anyone has ever said anything about having a non-resort guest get on the bus. I just can't imagine anyone really caring or checking. The driver is there to drive, I don't see S/D having anyone else checking either. I think with the S/D buses not being at the normal Disney bus stops at the Parks that self-selects most non-guests from using it. I think you're good to go if you want. If others known more hopefully they will chime in. Be sure you get the SwanDolphin Mobile App as it has info about bus locations, etc.

When we were there the first week of August, no one ever checked to see if we were hotel guests when we got on the busses.

The Disney buses have a better loading slots in the theme park. I doubt many non resort guests have a reason.

Major reason would be if you wanted to dine there

Is Fantasia mini golf open? Spa appointment another reason

If you were staying at Swan/Dolphin, and family members were staying elsewhere, and everybody wanted to meet up at the Swan/dolphin before heading out to the theme park, that could be a reason for somebody who is not staying at S/D to want to get on a S/D theme park bus.

Did your dad indicate the correct number of people for each of the reservations? Are you all connected as Friends and Family already in MDE?

I think this is why I am so annoyed, we have all been connected on MDE for at least 7 years now. But I think you hit the nail with this, I highly doubt he put the number of guests in when booking, and just booked one guest per room. Ugh.

edited to add: a 90 min call with a Disney internet CM ended in her saying she had a plan to fix but after 15 more mins the call went straight to survey and nothing was resolved. Disney chat said it takes 72 hours for reservations to update, which is wild because dad has added two of last Thursday and we still aren’t showing. I guess the next stop is in house reservations and adjusting number of guests? Thanks everyone!

I had this happen once - I called Marriott directly and they altered the number of guests I had in the room. Then I could add my people in MDE by name. Just call Marriott - they can help quicker than any Disney CM, esp for something as small as adjusting the number of guests assigned to rooms.

First DIS report of a Swan Reserve move (I think). They were moved to an executive suite at Swan. I have inquired as to what they originally booked.

Edit: update poster has responded they were booked in a signature suite. Hotel contacted them via email.

They replied to your post and indicated they were booked in a Signature Suite at the Reserve. The Exec Suite at the Swan not only is considerably larger, but it has two full baths, compared to the Reserve’s Suite, which only has 1-1/2 baths. It looks like a more than fair accommodation (no pun intended) to me.

Yeah I think it was definitely an appropriate offer. Happy to see it 👏

My girlfriend that was supposed to stay Sept 1 to 5 was moved from a Signature Suite to one of the Suites at the Dolphin (which is her preferred hotel). Not sure which one of the suites, though.

I've got two one-night stays at the Dolphin at the end of November - one for the night of Nov. 29, and one for the night of Nov. 30. Both are for the same room type. What are the odds that I can get Marriott/Dolphin to combine the reservations so that I won't have to switch rooms? Is that better done by calling Marriott ahead of time, or by asking at check-in? (I don't want to just book a two-night reservation because my original one-night reservation was cheaper than it is now. Modifying to two nights changes my rate to the current higher rate.)

I would ask at check in. Or, have you tried calling in house reservations to see if they can just do that now for you?

I haven’t tried calling yet. I’m not 100% sure I’ll be keeping the extra night, but just trying to figure out if it will work to stay in the same room.
