Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

I just called (888-828-8850) to see what the teacher rate would be for our dates in January, and he told me the rate wasn't working and "so what do you want to do now?" I was like...uhhh...not book it? I'm going to try again tomorrow or next week and see if I can find someone who knows more, but in the meantime does anyone know if there's a limit on how far in advance you can book with a teacher rate, or why January dates wouldn't work for that rate? Or even if there's a better number or time to call to get someone with more knowledge? This particular reservation person wasn't overly helpful.

If you just called, then you should call back during normal day business hours - aim for 9-4 PM. You probably got transferred to the Marriott call center - when you call press 0 and ask for in-house reservations.

Thanks! I work 7:45am-8 pm, so it can be tough to call during normal business hours, but I think my lunch is free tomorrow so I'll give it a try then.

You s/b able to check rates online or by calling, but there seems to be a glitch for flexible rate searches in January, for the teacher discount. Using an exact date range seems to work better.

For Reservations: Contact us at
1-888-828-8850 and ask for promotional code TEACHERS RATE or when booking online, make sure Promotional Code ZTC appears in the Corporate/Promo code box. Valid teacher or school issued ID required at check-in to receive this offer.

Might try different times.... but I've checked with AP (QWH) and FL (FR6) rates and there are some weeks in January that are sold out for those rates already. Some dates where even with regular rate, the Swan is just unavailable, Dolphin is over $500..... Reserve seems to be the best option. People are making plans, and I suspect groups are as well.

@mouschievous - wish the in-house reservations hours were longer, but that's the best bet time to catch them. The Marriott Call center doesn't know much about the teacher rates. I will say that the teacher rate is ok, but not amazing. If you are a member of AAA it almost always beats the teacher rate.

Yup, try online and use corporate code ZTC.

Any dates I've checked the AAA & Teacher rate have always been the same.

Maybe during covid times, but traditionally under the Marriott system it's not been as good. My wife is a teacher so we'd often check it and once Marriott took over and partnered with AAA those rates were much better. But right now they are doing anything to get heads in beds - Teacher, AAA, AP you name it and I can't blame them.

Thanks for the help! I finally figured out where to put the code, but it said there are no rooms available for the teacher rate. I was able to book rooms at Swan Reserve using the senior discount. Then I realized I booked in my name, but my parents are the seniors (we're all traveling together). Anyone know if I need to change the name on the reservation to be a person who qualifies for the discount? We'll all be together and check in together.

We now have rooms at CBR, Swan Reserve, and still have a request in for Beach Club DVC :rotfl: I need to make a reminder on my phone to cancel rooms in December!

We have oodles of old magic bands and plan to bring one along for each of us at the end of May. But with staying at the Swan, am I correct that the band can only be used for entering the parks? If I didn't even want to use it for that, can I get a hard ticket to use for entry (we're using e-tickets for this trip).

Correct only for park entry and ride pictures for attractions that still have a touch-point available. Just a reminder the MBs are tied to an individual and need to be active in MDE to link to tickets.

Yes you can get a physical "RF" enabled plastic ticket at all Guest Service Locations and many ticket booth windows. Such as the ones at the International Gateway at Epcot.

If you have a smartphone you can also use it to generate a Disney MagicMoble Pass to store in your smartphone wallet. You can also generate and manage multiple MagicMobile for other members of your group.

When I checked in at the Dolphin mid-April, I was asked to give my AAA card to the agent who happened to be the asst. manager that evening. I mentioned that I've never had an agent take my card and examine the info before. The asst. manager said that the AA card is usually fine and is correct with the name of the person that the reservation is under. He said the bigger problem is people who do not have proper nurse and teacher credentials to get the discount and they are checking those closely now. There are very specific criteria for the use of those 2 discounts. Just an FYI. Other recent guests may not have had the same experience.

I just did this for a big family gathering/split stay between the Swan and the Poly for April 2022.

I booked a traditional king and a traditional 2 queen rooms at the Swan with points (50K weekday, 60 K weekend). I then called the in-house reservation line (888) 828-8850 and paid $265 per night to add the parlor portion to make it a 2 bedroom grand suite. A smaller parlor, making it a 2 bedroom executive suite, was also available for slightly less, but we opted for the larger suite.

My experience is that these book out pretty far (maybe not a year, but I'm a long term planner). I would book as soon as you have the dates and can always cancel.

ETA: The parlor portion doesn't have a traditional bed (although the Heavenly Sleeper Sofa is excellent). The plus is you would only pay one resort fee!
Okay, so just to clarify you booked 3 rooms and the parlor?

Do you know if you could just book one room with 2 queens and the parlor? Is there a website for seeing all the different room combinations?

Thanks a ton for this info!

I booked a double room and a parlor for our upcoming stay at Dolphin. You need to talk to the in-house and specify the type of parlor room you would like to book. I think there's Premium Room, Grand Suite, Governor's Suite, Presidential Suite, etc.

Heading down Sunday for the week, and I probably won't be online tomorrow so I wanted to thank everyone on this thread for all the great information. If anyone has any specific on site questions, hit me up and I'll do my best to return your generosity.
