Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

If I am reading this correctly, is it feasible to turn up at the pool as a paying guest, and find you cannot get a seat or lounger as they are occupied by non-residents ?? That seems utterly ridiculous ?!?!
While possible, I think far more likely that resort guests are the ones taking up those spaces. I just don't see that many locals choosing to do that.

Would anyone there now (or within the past two weeks) care to comment on the crowd levels at the pools and whether it was possible to find a chair, shade, timely food/drink orders, etc? No small children with us, so fine splitting up if we have to but SHADE is critical. Especially mid-day, since it has been so very very hot? We’re going to be there mid-week if that makes any difference. Thanks.

Has anyone booked a grand suite or parlor room at the swan? Going in December with both sets of grandparents, so we currently have 3 rooms. Originally booked the Swan Reserve Suite so that we would have a place to gather, but I'm wondering if the suite at the Swan would make more sense. Any idea on the cost/how far out they need to be booked?

Does anyone know how much it is to rent a cabana and what options they may have. I couldn't find it online and did a couple searches here and couldn't come up with an answer :(. Many thanks for your help!

You will need to contact the Swan & Dolphin directly for a review of all the suite options. I would suggest you call during the week at 407-934-4000 and ask for in-house reservation.

The Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin smartphone app has been updated to show more details on all the room types / and features for your review to make an informed decision on what to reserve or your group.

Note: You can also use the new revised http://swandolphin.com web site by accessing the Navigation feature. This is the 3 horizontal bars on the top left of the web site and choosing "Accommodations". To review Suite options and features and room layouts.

Anyone know if it's possible to book a normal room with points and add on the "parlor" with cash?

I just did this for a big family gathering/split stay between the Swan and the Poly for April 2022.

I booked a traditional king and a traditional 2 queen rooms at the Swan with points (50K weekday, 60 K weekend). I then called the in-house reservation line (888) 828-8850 and paid $265 per night to add the parlor portion to make it a 2 bedroom grand suite. A smaller parlor, making it a 2 bedroom executive suite, was also available for slightly less, but we opted for the larger suite.

My experience is that these book out pretty far (maybe not a year, but I'm a long term planner). I would book as soon as you have the dates and can always cancel.

ETA: The parlor portion doesn't have a traditional bed (although the Heavenly Sleeper Sofa is excellent). The plus is you would only pay one resort fee!

12:30 Thursday not too crowded. There were 18-20 chairs in shade by baby pool (on Dolphin side), most empty, and chairs behind the waterfall, if you don’t mind the water noise.

They are doing mobile order from your chair. We didn’t try it, but Cabana bar didn’t appear too swamped.

We were there a week and half ago and the main pool seemed busy but not slammed. It was a Friday & Saturday and we saw chairs available mid-morning and again around 2/4pm. As far as what was in shade and what wasn't, I don't recall. I know you could always do a cabana reservation if that's critical. There was another pool area that had nothing going on at all. The bar wasn't open so that was likely why that pool was more chill.

How is the construction near the pool these days? Still going on?

Question...we are doing 3 days at the Dolphin and then switching to a condo for the rest of the week. We arrive early on a Thursday and was planning on that just being a resort/water park day, with a long split day at HS that Friday, split day at Epcot on Saturday, and then I am struggling for Sunday (our checkout day). Should we take advantage of busses from Boardwalk to MK before we move off site? Go ahead and do our second Boardwalk day (we are doing 2 days at each park except only 1 at Epcot)? Or something else entirely? We aren't allowed into our condo until 4 pm, so I was thinking of a leisurely start and then doing just the day that day, but I know that also means longer ways. We could possibly do a split day with a walk back over to HS and then come back later that night, but then we end up with a chunk of time in the middle of the day with nowhere to go.
Another question...how does the free parking at the resorts work for the hotel stay? If we were to do a split day on the day of checkout, would the free parking still work after we checkout?

Does anyone have any idea what is going on Wed. Dec 1st? It's the week after Thanksgiving but when I put in dates I get a rate of $1,000 ish for both hotels however the days before and after and even on Thanksgiving weekend range from $250-350. So it seemed odd that one random night on a Wednesday NOT on a holiday week was $1,000. and no reward nights that night only, all others available. Just curious of ideas because it's messing with my plans. LOL
