Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

We have a reservation for the Swan. If we have a late flight, will bell services keep our luggage once we check out of our room? Also, are refillable mugs available at any of the dining locations?

I saw the other thread you posted. You accidentally omitted the room description when you copied & pasted. For the benefit of others, it was "double - run of house".
I was going to ask if it was 3rd party points you were using to book - but you answered that question in your reply.

Question then becomes does the "double" in the description refer to # of beds or something else. And if it refers to # of beds, do they mean 2 real beds or 2 sleeping surfaces?

All Swan rooms sleep 4, either in 2 queens or a king and a pull-out sleeper sofa. Unfortunately, the only people who can answer the double question are either the Swan or whomever is administering Air Canada's points hotel bookings.

If I needed 2 real beds, not sure I would take my chances without a definite answer.

My main concern is that we can sleep 4 people. If the worst is a King and a pull out sofa, I'm OK with that. I prob should have clarified, I'm using Aeroplan points, and for 4 nights it was about 240000 points for 4 nights. If I chose the 'standard room' which showed a pic of two beds, it was like 750000 points.........

super helpful thank you! @Dan Murphy do you know if I can mobile order coffee from them?
Sadly no, only Mobile for now is from Cabana, II Mulino and Kimonos.

No problems holding luggage. Mugs, honestly I'm unsure no reports about them. Hopefully somebody can chime in that has just been.

Quick question to the experts: I was just comparing rates and saw that Dolphin offers a standard room with the AAA rate and a standard room as a AAA-package which comes with a $50 resort credit. Otherwise the price seem to be the same for the non-package and the AAA-package standard room. Is that even possible? Am I missing something? Since I have never had a AAA membership I don’t really know what those packages mean :o Tia!

I took a look. Seems like the only difference is that the package requires at least a 5 night stay.

Maybe check to see if one is refundable and/or requires advance payment, and one isn’t/doesn’t? Non-refundable/pay in advance is often cheaper and might be the difference for the $50 credit. Otherwise, that sounds like an awesome deal!

Like mentioned above I believe the only difference to get it is to need a 5 night stay. I booked this back in January for my stay at the end of May and it still was a fully refundable rate and one night due at booking so it seems like a great deal to me. It was literally the only reason I joined AAA since it saved me more then the membership costs lol

Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can help. We have two rooms booked at the Dolphin in September via Virgin Holidays who offer a “lake view” and include parking and resort fee. My sister and I would prefer two doubles and my parents a king but Mum would also love a balcony. The Virgin website says lake view can be king size, 2 queen or 2 doubles (although I didn’t think the Dolphin had queens). I’ve tried to email the Swalphin to ask if we can upgrade my parents room in advance but no reply.

My question is, do you think it’s worth calling the in house reservations line closer to our trip to ask if I can request a room with 2 doubles and another with a king & balcony given that we booked with a third party? If so, when would you advise calling?

Thanks Stewa646, iujen94, Dan Murphy! I checked again and it seems that you get the resort credit if you stay 5 nights. And it’s a refundable rate :)

It was the best advice to join the AAA.

I had that AAA package rate with the resort credit last December. It was a refundable rate, and yes, the same price as the "non-package" AAA rate. Basically, it is as described in the rate details. AAA membership can be worth it (if one doesn't care about roadside assistance) if the hotel savings is greater than the membership cost. Also, as I think someone else said, read the rate details carefully, as Marriott has both refundable and nonrefundable AAA rates.

(I will also add that for my trip timeline this year, the room rate for the resort credit deal is actually higher than the normal AAA rate.)

In the S/D app, Fuel and Java are indicated as opening at 6 AM. The cups in the room are certainly to-go cups, if you want to take them with you.
Just wanted to add while the cups in my room last week were to go cups they did not have lids. Not sure if they normally do and they just didn't put them in my room or if they don't normally. I don't know if lids are important to you (they are me if I'm going to be walking with the cup in my hand because I'm less than graceful).

Can I ask what you mean by "resort credit deal"? Is that same as booking with points? If so, are you saying the cost or value of the room booked with points was higher than if one bought with AAA discount? I'm planning on getting a AAA card anyhow to book my stay at Hard Rock and also because I can get my Real ID through them and avoid the registry...so just wondering if it makes sense to also consider the AAA discount and save the points for a different trip (but don't know how one would compare those rates)...

There is a deal with AAA where if you book 5 nights or more, you get a $50.00 credit at the Swan or Dolphin. You must enter your AAA card number to get the deal.

I just stayed on the AAA- stay for 5 nights, get a $50 resort credit. The credit does not show up on your final bill as a resort credit. Look closely and buried in the line items should be the credit. I always just walk out and wait for an email of my final folio, but this time I asked for a paper printout so that I could see that the credit was applied.

Coffee- I spoke about this before but it may be helpful to repeat it. The S/D coffee cups are 12 ounce paper cups with no lids. I don't think that is an accident. To get a lid to walk around, you need to stop by one of the S/D QS places which will charge you a considerable fee for their coffee. I recommend either bringing pods or a ziplock bag of your choice of coffee. Stuff the coffee into some disposable coffee cups with lids from home. Bring a gold or plastic small filter(and paper liners). Heat hot water in the room pot and you will have delicious pour-over coffee at any time you like for a very low cost. You can buy milk at FUEL to keep in the fridge.

Waters and housekeeping- I received 2 waters in the fridge and 2 on the counter upon arrival. I asked the housekeeper in the hallway for more. She made it very clear that I had to call housekeeping for more and that floor housekeepers only have enough for their expected work day. The front desk is great about giving you as much as you want.

I was at the Dolphin for 5 nights. I had one tiny wastebasket for the room and no cleaning all week. I was told that this would be the case when I checked in. You can call for light housekeeping and extra supplies if you choose.

Emailing hasn't really been working like it did - not sure why. But if your room is linked with the Marriott app you should be able to contact them via the app. I would give them a call, keep in mind the in-house reservation staff tend to be there more Monday-Friday 8-5PM. I am unsure if they will grant your request or not, but you won't know unless you ask. Good luck!

Has anyone checked out early? I had originally booked a 2 night stay at the Swan at the passholder rate May 7-9 after our points stay May 1-7. Now we need to check out on May 8. Before the night sold out/went super expensive, I did book just the night of May 7 at the passholder rate, but it's about $40 more than the rate I have booked on the original reservation for the 2 nights. I'm not sure if I should keep the May 7-9 and ask to check out early. I wouldn't want to get stuck with a higher rate or having to pay for the second night we won't be using. If we'll be stuck paying the total for the 2 nights, then the 1 night I have booked costs less overall. The reservation for the single night of May 7 is $172 plus taxes and fees ($232.88 total), and the reservation for the 2 nights of May 7 and 8 are $135 and $140 plus taxes and fees ($388.13 total).

With Marriott in general, I know I've read if I call to try to drop a night in advance, I won't be able to keep the original rate. I've also read that people have been able to check out early and only pay for the night(s) they actually use at the original rate. But I haven't seen anything specific to Swan/Dolphin. So just wondering if anyone has any experience. Thanks!
