Walt Disney Studios Tour

For those of you that have done the tour, I have a couple of questions.
1) Do you know what time the store(s) close? We have a 2pm tour which is supposed to last 2.5 hours and I just want to make sure we have time to shop.
2) Do you know how much before the tour you are allowed to arrive at the studios? The information says to arrive 30 minutes prior but is there any reason to arrive earlier? Given that our tour is 2-4:30pm, I just want to make sure we have time to experience everything we are allowed to see/visit.

Thanks for any advice you can share!

I'm not sure when the store closes but I think it should be open.

Security probably won't let you in more than 30 minutes early. The last time we went we were 40 minutes early and the security guard turned us away (in a nice way), we just drove around for 10 minutes. There really isn't much to do before the tour. You'll just kind of hang out in an area, you'll have access to restrooms, and probably the little building from the old Hyperion lot.

We did the tour a month ago and our time was 2:30 but there was plenty of time for shopping! Our tour guide made sure she finished so we had time afterward, and we had arrived half an hour earlier as they said so we actually had time (15-20 minutes?) to pre-shop beforehand. There was no reason to arrive earlier than that, you'd just be waiting outside until they checked you in. The store isn't very big and the back "employee" area is pretty small, but we still found some things! :-)

Thanks so much for the information.
