What is the difference between Walmart, Superwalmart and Publix?
Which is better on prices for styro-cooler, water, snacks, etc?

(I'm from the northeast... )

Thanks.

Walmart is a big variety store with good prices. Super Walmart includes a grocery store. Again, good prices. Publix is a grocery store--high prices.

We often make a trip to the SuperWalmart while in Orlando to pick up foods, sunscreen, film, etc. It is not too far from Universal. I know the concierge at HRH has directions printed on a card.

Thanks,

What about the Super Target, and why is Publix so popular with the locals?

Publix is a grocery store that is clean, has a deli (they make subs in it), bakery, and just about anything someone ariving into town would need. I shop there because of the quality of the items.
There is a SuperWalmart north of Universal, but you'll arrive to the Publix before that. The differance in prices won't be that much. Publix has good prices, and you'll have the option of buying subs in the deli, and fresh pastries in the bakery if you want.
I have directions to the Publix, which also has a liquor store next to it. Most limo services will take you there as a perk for using them.

Can I get other stuff from Publix like styrofoam cooler, etc?

Thanks.

(NEVER MIND, the answer is on your directions  )

I am a former So Fl resident and I really liked Publix. Their prices are very reasonable. And if they are having a sale (which is every week if I remember correctly) their prices are better than SuperWalmart. And believe me, I am a frugal shopper.

We used to go to SuperWalmart everytime we went to WDW. One time we went and it was such a zoo we left and returned to our old Publix. We have not been back to SWM since (probably 4 years). Not sure about the suntan oil and coolers and things like that-I would probably break down and go to SWM for that type of thing. But groceries--PUBLIX!

I won't be needing to do any major shopping for groceries.
Just a cooler, case of water, sodas and a maybe a few snacks.
I just don't want to pay $12 for a case of water someplace when I can pay $8 at another.

We also like Publix. Their prices seem about the same as what we pay at home and they have good weekly specials, as mentioned. I would avoid the Super Walmart unless you need clothing items, toys or major souvenirs. It's just not worth fighting the crowds for a few grocery items.

You might also check the website for a nearby Sams Club if you're a member. We always hit the new one near Disney. Not sure if there is another nearer Universal. They always have the best prices on bottled water, milk, and most other things we need.

:teacher: Publix is hands down the winner in my book for my shopping when we visit orlando! :cool1: Clean stores and nice people,Good prices :earseek: :space: And a great Deli! :earboy2:

No, you won't pay $12 for a case of water you can get less somewhere else.
Publix isn't price gouging, they even have many Publix brands that are better than national brands, for much less. That includes bottled water.

There is a Sams club to the east of the parks, but it's kinda out of the way and you'll only save a few bucks by going there.

Stay with the Publix, and you'll be happy. If you're being picked up at the airport, tell the driver you want to stop at the Publix north of the park on Conroy road, and I'm sure they'll know exactly what you're talking about.

Ok, thanks.
I will be driving so I'm going to take a copy of your directions, Robvia, there much better than mapquest. Hopefully they won't get me lost from the RPH :D.
You should do directions like that from MCO to universal.

:flower1:

Publix is just a regular grocery store. There is no higher prices due to the tourist area. A case of water will be around 5.99 for 24 waters and a cooler around 3.99. There are always some sort of snacks on sale buy one get one free. You will be pleased with what you find, Super Walmart is too crazy and you probably would save about 50cents total. :Pinkbounc
