I saw people posting about Walmart "opening the doors" on the 25th. All the Walmarts I shop at are open 24 hours, and I am pretty sure will be open on Thanksgiving. How does that work for BF? Can I get there at 3 or 4 and pick up the item I need and then hang out for 2 hours until time to pay?

Am I mistaken about them being open on T-day?

I want the $50 Game Boy (actually 3 of them). I haven't seen much discussion about them. Any chance they won't be hard to get since most are going for the DS system this year?

Usually the ad will say when the sale starts on specific items. For example an item may go on sale at 6 a.m. At our store that item will be wheeled out to an aisle wrapped in clear plastic wrap that cannot be opened until the time the sale starts for that item. They literally have an employee "guarding" some items. But I've also seen smaller less note worthy items already on the shelf at midnight and with the sale price on them. :confused3 Guess it depends on the item and the store.

Our Walmart is open 24 hours also. They close from 2am- 5am Thanksgiving morning. They open again at 5 am. There is always a mad rush to get in the door.

Do they have a special ad for Thanksgiving day like K-mart does? Our Supercenter just opened a few months ago, so I am unsure how Walmart does the sales.

I just got the Ad today when I left Walmart. Nov 25 5-11 am $ 68 Venturer 6.2 in DVD player. $98 20 inch flat screen tv/dvd combo. $ 178 15 inch LCD Tv. $378 hp notebook are the big items

Could you look and see if it mentions the Game Boy Advance please? It should be around $50.

I have never done the BF get up at the crack of doom before, but it looks like I might this year!

Do yor Gameboys need to be new? If not you can get them cheap on ebay. Everyone is getting the GBDS this year and selling off their old GBA. That is what we will do.

Our store is also 24 hours. Usually they have all the sale items in a special place, like the aisles surrounding the store. They are covered/wrapped. They also section the area off. As soon as 5 a.m. rolls around they take down the rope and allow people in. Remember, you are in a crowd so it is very helpful to know exactly what you want to purchase and go to the item. Otherwise you will be trapped in a sea of people. It actually is quite a fun time. My girlfriend and I go every year...kind of a tradition for us! I really don't think there is anyway to get the sale items earlier as I have seen others post about special barcodes but you may ask at your store and find out the particulars. Have fun!

They are not showing the Game Boy advanced. I just bought it today for $79 at Walmart. I did ask & they said they had no idea if it would go on sale . The Ad I was handed as I left does not show it.

We thought about getting through ebay, but like the brighter screen on the new ones. If I don't get them on sale at Walmart we will probably try ebay. These are for our girls, and I am not convinced they will use them enough to justify paying $80 each.

I may have dh look into the ebay option again. Most of what we saw when we looked a few weeks ago were just as expensive as buying in the store. I also tend to be a bit leery of buying electronics through ebay. . .

I got a GBA 2 years ago at Walmart on BF. The store did not close at all and did begin to honor sales at midnight that were to start on sale that day. Things that are only on sale during certain hours, however, were not sold until that time arrived. A line started forming through the Electronics Dept about 90 minutes before the sale was to start. When the time arrived, they started giving the Game Boys out to the people in the line and to others who would walk up to the Electronics checkout. They only had a limited amount to give out and ran out a few people before me. We were all so angry that they had given them out to people who had not waited in the line, which caused us to not get one. We complained and they magically found some that were a little different (better) than the advertised ones. We had to buy them there so they could adjust the price, but we did get them.

Be aware that they may only allow one per person so you might take someone with you if you are looking for more than one.

Wal Mart had game boys as part of BF either last year or the year before. My sister was able to get two a couple hours after the sale started, but she bought the last ones. They were not the "advanced".

I just bought the Spongebob Gameboy bundle for $92.00 at TRU after discounts.

On Friday they are having the Gameboy with a shrek 2 game and shrek2 dvd for $79.99

I would of went got that deal but my daughter really wants the spongebob gameboy.

I stood in line on BF, for the GB a couple of years ago at our Super Wal-Mart. The doors were open and they let us stand in the electronics department. I got there about 3:30 am I think for the sale to begin at 5am , and I was the 5th person in line.
Around 1/2 before tons of people started coming in and trying to cut in line, because by this time there were probably over 100 people in line. I got mine and didn't have a problem, but I'm sure people further back that waited a long time may have not got one because of the ones trying to cut.
I keep thinking of doing this madness again, to get DS the better one but not sure if I will or not. Good Luck if you try it.

Get to Walmart early! You will have to ask the employees where the 'item" is your wanting. One time the eletronics line was in the meat section instead of electronics. They gave out numbers also. You will see tall pallots with brown paper wrapped then shrinked wrapped in all the middle isles. They are not marked so again you have to ask where items are your interested in. If there is more then 1 item you will be trying to get, it is best to take a friend or relative with you. It is hard to get across the store to score another item in record time with the huge crowds.

It's the Gameboy SP that's on sale and it does have a brighter screen than the Advance (which if you could even find one should be very cheap). $48.88 is a great price, you probably couldn't do better for a new one on Ebay (expecially by the time you pay shipping). Our Walmarts GUARD the things until 6:00 and then its just awful! We promised ourselves to never go into a Walmart on BF again! (We don't like Walmart anytime!). Go early (by 4:30) and stand right next to the guy who will unwrap the good (most of our good stuff is under wraps). Or find them and stake out your spot until 5:00, Good luck and let us know how it goes!!! :flower:

 Boy, I really didn't want to have to play the BF game (and it will be my birthday-- what a great way to spend it!). To add further complication I will be at my in-laws so will be at a store I am not very familiar with. Looks like I will be getting up at 3 am. At that time I may have to drag DH with me--especially if it might be 1 per person. We HAVE to have 2, the third was as a "favor".

But to save $60 overall I guess it is worth it. :confused3

I did see that other stores have "bundles" on sale, but we have NO need for any of the games they are offering. My girls want games like Princesses, Barbie, Dora, and "girly" princess: stuff like that.

I will let you know how it goes! From the responses posted here it looks like every store is a bit different, especially when it comes to crowd control so I will try to get there by 3:30 -4 and hope for the best. I may go in my pajamas (flannel Mickey pants and t-shirt) and bring my pillow! :faint:

I am still hoping also that because DS is the HOT thing this year that the Game Boys will be "overlooked" and I won't have a problem getting one. :rotfl2: :cloud9: :scared:

Wish me :wizard: !!!

Having read this...

I am glad I have never done the WalMart thing. Sound like thier normal management practice apply (Get in line, but we ignore the line!) WalMart has the worst Customer Service in the industry IMHO.

I have been turned off of WalMart for years... The one I used to live near would only hire a few cashiers.. I once asked the manager why they bothered to build more then two lines if they weren't going to hire more then two cashiers.... handed the manager my unpaid for purchases and headed to Target. Figured out later I spent exactly TEN CENTS more at Target but the store was clean and there were LOTS of cashiers....
