So what happens when you place an order from Walmart.com and are given the option to pick up in store and then you are told from the store that they do not have that item?

Did you order it "Site to Store" and receive a text / e-mail that it was in

OR

Did you order it as "Pick up Today"?

Pick up in store and received a text and message saying to wait for the email before heading out to pick up as it can take up to four hours. But I called because I had a question and that's when I was told they don't have that product at the store so I am confused because usually Walmart.com will say an item is not available in store only on line but pick up in store option popped up as a choice :confused3

Because their inventory isn't real time and isn't 100% accurate. They may have had one in stock last week, but it was shoplifted on Sunday and they have no idea it left the store. Or they had one when you were looking, but the one they had was in someone's physical cart and not on the shelf and that customer checked out fifteen minutes later - with the last whatever you were looking for.

So pick up in the store was available, because its something WalMart stocks in your store, but they ask you to wait to confirm that it actually is in stock before going to the store to pick it up.

I had the same thing happen to me. A Walmart employee told me that their layaway items are included in their online inventory which seems crazy to me.

I won't use this service anymore. My item was canceled as not available. I went over to the store and went down the toy aisle and there it was, right where it was supposed to be. I don't think the employees look too hard when they are packing the orders.

EXACTLY what happened to me, they said it (infinity item) was no longer available, I said I just SAW ONE on the shelf. So they went back and gave me that one. I had to wait 10-15 minutes for the whole thing, because only one dude was working doing returns, and the pickups. Never again.

Similar thing has happened to me at Best Buy 6 weeks ago. I did it at Apple, for an iPad. There was an issue there as well, so they had to cancel my online order, refund it, and just sell me one from the store. It was not an online special order, I just did store pickup to speed things up. Um, no. Took 20 minutes to get it straightened out.

I had problem doing this at Target. I received a confirmation and then later received a notice telling me the item was no longer available and my order was cancelled - very matter of fact. I looked at Walmart, they had the item and I placed that order. Again, received a notice telling me the store no longer had the item but they were rushing it there and I would be able to pick it up as a site-to-store within a couple of days. I must say I was much more pleased with Walmart than Target.

It happened to me with both Target and Wal-Mart for the same item one day (Doc McStuffins Check up Center). I called another Wal-Mart that said online it was in stock in store....they didn't have it either. I did find it in another Wal-Mart and another Target further out of the city that day. My money was either never taken from my account or refunded. I don't remember which.

:thumbsup2 exactly. I had this happen to me at Best Buy. The system told me they had the item, I ordered it and whatever, and when I got there, they told me they couldn't find it. I only did the pick up in store because I didn't want to drive the 30 minutes to the store if I was going to get there and find out the item was out of stock. And when I got there, it wasn't there. :scared: It was very annoying.

I just had this happen to me with Toys R Us. This kind of thing must happen more this time of year. I called Customer Service and they said there wasn't anything they could do. That part of my order will just get cancelled and refunded back onto the card I used. It sure is annoying since I was trying to hit the magic $25 number to use my $5 off.

Just a follow up to my last post. I got an email from Toys R Us giving me a $10 ecard for my next shopping trip for my inconvenience, so that's great! Luckily the item I'd ordered wasn't a gift I was hoping to have by Christmas.

That's exactly the same item I had the trouble with!

I ordered a lego set from Walmart.com to be picked up in the store. I picked it up and they had slapped huge stickers across the front of the lego box that had my name and the pick up date on it. This was a gift, and I couldn't remove the stickers without ripping off most of the front of the box (I tried). I really didn't want to give the legos with the big stickers across the front of the box. I took them back and asked if I could exchange them for the same thing without the stickers across the front (since their store was who put the stickers on the box in the first place). The "customer service" lady told me that since I ordered them online I couldn't exchange them, she could only give me a refund. She gave me my money back and I went back to the toy dept. and found the exact same item for $5 MORE than I paid to buy it online. I thought about talking to a manager about why I couldn't just exchange the item, but by then I was fed up with Walmart and just left and bought a different lego item at Target.

After I got home I looked up the return policy at Walmart.com, and I should have been able to return or exchange the item. I think the CS lady just didn't really care so it was easier for her to give me my money back and be done with me. I should have read the policy first so I could have refused the refund unless she could prove they were out of the item.
