I don't usually venture out much on Black Friday, let alone on Thanksgiving, but I might consider it for the iPad mini deal, especially since my kids will be with their dad. I've read something about the consumer needing to stand in line for an hour and then being guaranteed the deal, but I'm not really understanding how this might work. Could someone explain this to me, please??

Can this be done online? (I'm guessing NO to that one!)

First-we purchased our DD an iPad mini from Staples, they are currently $249, and because we are on their rewards, we are getting free shipping. For us, it was totally worth the "not dealing with the craziness at either Target or Walmart"

We actually went to see a movie last Thanksgiving, which is near our walmart. Traffic was beyond crazy, people were parking up to 1/2 mile away, and walking down busy highways, without great lighting. There were traffic accidents left and right. There is simply no way that I would do that.

If you go, make sure you know what "your" Walmart is doing. Our walmart at some point in the afternoon is going to hand out wrist-bracelet things. They are also supposed to have a store map on-line sometime this week. That is just based on signs posted at our walmart. I do not know much more, as I am not venturing to walmart.

Good luck,

I just was at my Walmart and asked the sales associate in the electronic department this very question. Here is what they told me:

They are going to start giving out wristbands at 6pm and will give those out to as many customers they can. Those people will get an actual IPad Mini and gift card that night.

When they run out of wristbands, they are going to hand out plastic cards. They will hand those out until 7pm when they stop with the price guarentee. Those people who have the cards still have to pay for the IPad then, but it will arrive at the store within 2 weeks and when you come back to pick it up you will also get the $100 gift card.

Sounds pretty pleasant to me:goodvibes thank goodness! Check out a map online of your local store to see where the line will be for the Ipad. Mine said it will probably be at jewelry or site to store or near the front registers.

Not sure about the online thing.

I have to admit, as much as I hate shopping at Walmart in general, my store usually has it together on Black Friday. Parking might be a nightmare, but otherwise I think it will work out like the ad says.

You didn't by any chance ask about how they will work the Iphones on Friday am?? It looks like we can get the Iphone 5S with a $100 gift card on that morning. I went to ask my walmart and the guy in the electronics department wouldn't tell me a thing. I was not too happy! Just wanted to make sure they were actuallly going to be selling them there.

That sounds really organized. I know the Walmart near me could NEVER pull that off. They can't get their act together the rest of the year. No way could they organize a line on BF. You would have one person say/do one thing and the next person have a whole other policy. I don't go near there BF.

They're not showing on my local store map. Check yours, and if the phones aren't listed (no Samsung either), go really early and head over th e re again. Ask before you get n line,of course.

You can buy the iPad mini right now online from Target, $299 with a $75 gift card. Nice alternative to waiting in line.

Just looked for iPads on the Target website. The only ones showing in stock are some 64 & 128 gb iPad airs. All the rest are out of stock online. Will have to head to the store.

We got to Walmart at 4:30. Walked right up and were given a wristband for the mini -no line. Told as long as we were in line to pick it up before 8, we had one.
