Wallets at Bag Check

Silly question - anyone know if it's OK to take a water bottle "sling" thru the bagless line?

It really depends to be honest. I have a tiny vera bradly wristlet that just fits a phone and cards/cash. I've been allowed through bagless with that little wristlet almost everytime time. Only one CM ever made me go to bag check. Several laughed and said it is not a bag. I usually have it unzipped and showing that it is empty so maybe that is why.

So, DH can skip bag check since his wallet is in his pocket. If I use a small wallet/wristlet style hooked to my belt loop is that a wallet or a "bag"? None of my pockets will hold my phone and the couple of other things I would want with me in the parks. I guess my ? is at what point do they consider a wallet actually a bag and make you go through the bag check line?
A wristlet is a bag

I do. I have had the CM give a questioning look when they see me walking toward the bagless line with a shoulder sling. I pull the bottle around towards the front so that they can see that it is a water bottle and I get the slight nod to come through.

This is so true
I have a small pouch

as big as a credit card. I have my AP, ID and credit card in it. It can't hold anything else. I take it out of my pocket to go through metal detector (it has a metal on it, zipper/ring)
I had 1 CM send me through bag check with it

Mine is basically that but with the phone slot. I don't use it anymore because the 6/7 doesn't fit in it but I used it for a year no issues. The zipper section can fit some cards and cash. Most times it did just get shoved in a pocket so they didn't even know it was there. Other times I walked with it completely unzipped and they saw it had nothing but cards and cashed and never stopped me. Several guards even laughed about it. Like I said only one time did one say that needs to go through bag check even though they could see everything in no problem. Of course this was all before the extra security and now I go true bag-less since that started.

Yes, these are very similar but the one I have is almost half the size since no phone can fit. It really is no bigger than a driver's licence/credit card. I even took the ring off in hopes it didn't set off a metal detector but the zipper did, I guess.

I have a wallet like that for park touring. Like you, I slip it in my pocket and walk through the No Bag line and then clip it to my belt once through. I've gone through the metal detector and just put it in the dish with my sunglasses and phone. So far have never had it checked or counted as a bag, though it's maybe a little flatter than the one pictured. It's nylon...very similar in size and flatness to the things they sell to clip to a lanyard. I can barely fit 4 cards and a $20 bill in it.

Pocket = no bag. Out of pocket = bag I can't speak to a runner's belt. Others will have insight there.

If the runner's belt is hiding under your clothes so that they can't see it, then you'll be fine. But keep in mind that they are making everyone go through the metal detectors more often, so be sure to remove anything that might trigger the scanner, like your cell phone.

I have taken my runner's belt off for bag check, too, and they search it pretty good, even though it is mesh and you can see through it.

Then it depends on if you are required to go through the metal detectors.

On our last trip, I carried a crossbody bag. DH usually either carried his camera bag or nothing at all with just his wallet in his pocket. If he just had his wallet, he often didn't have to go through bag check. BUT, he frequently then was routed through the metal detectors. I was routed through them randomly even after bag check and sometimes, they routed everyone through. Thus far it's been random, presumably to keep people guessing but I think that they'll eventually make everyone go through metal detectors when you see what they're now doing at MK/TTC.

No, it's that small. The pic is done to force it open to show it on the inside, it's really flat. It is the same size as what is on a lanyard. I just encountered a security guard running their gate like their own little fifedom. Which was the point for mentioning it. You never know the guard you'll encounter. They are rare but out there

I always have that moment of worry that they'll suddenly decide it's a bag and make me go through the bag check line. Not that waiting is that big of a deal, but rather I'm worried they'll think me suspicious for trying to go through the no bag. I actually did go through bag check once with DH who carries our park bag, but the security guard took one look at my pouch thingy and waved me on.

Can your pouch fit in DH's pocket while you go though security? I've done that the few times I'm not wearing one of my skirts that hold my phone and ID pouch.

I've been happy to mule some stuff for DW from time to time. :)

I have a women's running belt. It's elastic and fits under my loose tshirt. Holds my phone, ID and not much more. No one has a clue it's there. Anything else goes in DH cargo pockets. We choose shorts for WDW by the size of the cargo pockets . One thing you can do is take a very small draw string back pack and fold it to fit in cargo pocket. After you are inside you can take it out and put anything you personally want to carry in it. Be careful not to overstuff cargo pockets, they might stop you for extra screening.

Come on Disney, that's ridiculous - more stuff goes through the bagless lines in people's pockets, than would possibly fit in there - heck you can fit more in a man's wallet

I got a bit upset with security because of a similar issue, my phone case has a wrist strap and also holds a few cards, but certainly no more. Tried to go through "no bag" line with it and most were fine, but one told me I needed to go through bag check. I pointed out to him that DH has the identical phone clipped to his belt and a wallet that is far thicker than my phone case. Nope, off to bag check I went. Now I either put said phone case in my back pocket, and get through no bags fine, or have DH stick it in his pocket.
