The room is painted and I am ready for the next step.

Does anyone have any tips on putting up a wall paper boarder?

One thing that I found makes the process easier... I applied the glue activator with a small sponge roller. It went much faster, easier to control and less messy. They sell them at Home Depot, Walmart, even Target.

Good luck!

Nice and Even Vanessa! :teeth:

are you putting it on the top of rhte wall near the ceiling or in the middle like where a "chair" rail would go?

I line up chairs along the wall so that I can step from chair to chair to chair and put up the whole roll at once. If I don't, then it tends to come down when I re-position.

Also, start in the least obvious place. That is also where you will end (duh!) and your matching will be less obvious. If your border has a pattern, you will most likely end up with an unmatched pattern. When that happens, I cut out shapes from left-over border (the flowers or whatever is on the border), moisten them, and place them strategically over the seam. Most people will not notice a few extra flowers (or frogs, as it was for me last month) but they will notice a border that is not matched.

Good luck!

I make sure my fiance is there to help me, 4 hands are better then 2! We just put a scultured boarder in our bedroom, I like that type better then the ones that are straight at the bottom. Good luck!

Sometimes the prepasted ones have a lot of extra glue, so have some wet rags to wipe the goo off the walls as it dribbles down.

I'm going to put it about 2 inches down from the ceiling...thanks for all the hints...

WELL< if you want a "boarder", just put an add in the paper, and I am sure someone will need a place to stay! Sorry, I couldn't resist teasing!! Diane hangs her head in shame.... Really though, borders are very easy to put up even without help. I hate to do wallpaper, but borders are easy.

My neighbor thought I was insane when she saw the way I bordered my office. She INSISTED you MUST have 2 people because you MUST put it up all in one piece. Not so. I did it alone. I cut the paper into 2 to 3 foot pieces and put them up one at a time. I positioned each piece carefully. It looks great. There are no seams showing at all. As a matter of fact, you can't even tell where I started and where I ended. BTW, the paper I used was the pre-pasted type that you soak in water prior to hanging.

Ok, solve a dispute in our family.

I put up border by using 1 long piece to cover each wall and end it in the corner. I then match the next piece to the corner and start another long piece to cover the that wall. NO SEAMS along wall.

But

DH puts the whole roll on the walls around corners and then the roll will stop mid wall. (Have I confused anyone) He then starts (seam) the next roll of border and keeps on going.

The dispute is:

My way takes up a lot of rolls and DH's way minimizes cost. Which way do most of you border?
