OK, so you know how Disney often gives a nod to other related characters in its films?

Well, I was watching Star Wars, A new Hope yesterday and I am convinced I saw Wall-E. I showed my kids and their friends and they totally agree....DH not so much (rainin on my parade)

So it's one of the earlier scenes in the movie. R2D2 was just captured and loaded onto the Jawa vehicle (Sandcrawler) and as he powers back up and looks around first he sees another similar unit to himself, the white & red one. But then another close up where he sees another robot and I'll be darned if it isn't Wall-E. It's not exact but it sure was close enough with the way the eyes caught the light

That's all, I wanted to share:goodvibes

That particular screen shot isn't as similar as the one where the Star Wars robot looks straight on and a little bit up

I'd say the robot looks more like he inspired Johnny 5 from Short Circuit.

I see that too Jennasis

You can see the moment I'm talking about on You tube "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope: Part 2 RandomDude5556 " from about 3:59-4:05 not quite exact but something familiar I can't quite put my finger on... all I know is it made me happy:goodvibes

Of course wall e would have been inspired by star wars, I was around and saw it in the theaters.... Did you think I meant it the other way around? Goodness no. Loved it then, love it now, I thought it might be a nod to George Lucas, an affectionate sign of admiration, that's all

I think in a way Wal-e was inspired by Star Wars and Johnny 5, I am sure when they were creating Wal-e they where looking for a Robot Archtype which would represent a robot that was a "worker type" robot. I am sure the artist who came up with the design pictured in his mind all the robots that he/she has seen from movies and came up with that design. When you see wall-e for the first time you instantly get the notion that he is a "worker type" while when you see EVE you instantly get the impression of a "super technology" type. Which makes the story so much more compelling.
