When AKL was built, it was a less expensive deluxe, due to the fact that it had no direct access to a park. Same with WL...they have boats in addition to a bus, to the MK but that isn't the same as either being able to walk to MK or take the monorail..which makes CR, Polynesian, and GF more expensive deluxe resorts. Same with BW and YC/BC..you can walk to Epcot and DHS or take a boat.
OKW doesn't have direct access. SSR sort of has direct access. You can walk to DTD but it's a hike! In both those cases, a boat is the way to DTD, buses to all other parks.
If Disney were to put in a walkway to AK from AKL, the cost per night may escalate. Would they put in a walkway? Who knows. It's a pretty fair walk to AK from the lodge. And, they would have to make a secondary entrance to AK I would think..sort of like the International Gateway to Epcot.
