We will be staying at ASMo in September. The map in the back of Birnbaum's WDW 2002 guidebook makes it look as if we could actually walk from the resort to BB and MGM. Is that the case? Or will we really need to wait for a bus? Are the streets that run through WDW pedestrian-friendly?

I think you will need to take the bus. All Star Resort is close, but not THAT close to BB. Also I don't think there are sidewalks on the major roads that the buses/cars travel.

And if I'm thinking correctly, you would also have to cross a major intersection.

There aren't any sidewalks along the roads, since Disney wants people to stay away from busy streets. The streets are just as busy as "regular" streets. You can't really tell you're in a big resort by the amount of traffic.

Hi,

From ASMo you can walk over to the other All Stars, Music and Sports, but you cannot walk to any parks from any of the All Star resorts. There is bus transportation from all of the All Stars to all of the Disney parks.

Hope you have a great trip.

You really need to take the traspotation to the parks. You are going to walk miles and miles once you get there!! Save your energy for the parks!!:Pinkbounc

I know that I did a ton of walking at the Disney parks. You probably can walk to the other All Star resorts from any given All Star Resort because they're all clustered. You must take transportation to any other WDW resort and to any of the parks; once you are at the parks, be prepared to walk several miles.

Disney World--
April 2-5, 1982: Holiday Inn Kissimmee
October 13-20, 2000: All Star Sports

Disneyland--
March 1-3, 1998: Desert Inn and Suites, Anaheim (right across the street!)

Our bus service at the Allstars has always been terrific. POR is very slow, CBR was pretty good. Bus service at the Epcot resorts is slow only because they have to stop at every single resort so that takes time. So far, the best bus service is the Allstars because they send one bus after another (but why is it that the park you are going to always the last bus arriving?):( Hmmmmm.!
