Walking tour of ship on 1st day...worth doing?

We did the tour on our last cruise (2nd cruise ever) and were not impressed. We thought it was going to be a tour of the entire ship and possibly some areas that guests normally don't get to see when, in reality, they only showed us the theater, the restaurants, and bar.

There are no behind the scenes tours. Well, except the galley tour on selected cruises. DCL tours are just to get familiar with the ship, and history of the design choices.

I'd agree that I thought it would be longer and cover more areas of the ship. We did it for our first ever cruise (Magic 3 day) and it basically just was deck 4 items. But for someone who had never been on a cruise ship, it was good to be also hearing some of the discussions of activities on the ship and a sense of how things work. It doesn't take that long, and it isn't like there is a lot of other pressing things to be doing while waiting to get into your room and for the ship to leave. Might as well go if you are there; as mentioned earlier you can always walk away if you don't think it is worth your time.

I'd say no to the Walking Tour, but yes to the Art of the Theme Tour - only if you have time and are interested in learning more about the design of the ship. Otherwise, with the rotational dining and various on-board activities, I think most people would pretty much see everything that is included in the tours anyway.

My daughter and I did the tour on the Dream. We were disappointed. All we saw were the bars and theaters. She was dying to see the kids areas and pools. I, like others, thought we would actually tour the ship, not just the 3rd and 4th decks.
