Walking tour of ship on 1st day...worth doing?

We did the walking tour on a 7-night cruise, and I really enjoyed it. I don't remember it taking up too much time, so I would go for it! (If you like tours and the sort. If you are taking young kids, they may not be interested. Depends on your situation.)

We are only on a 3 day cruise. Is this something worth doing?
As noted, it's certainly something worth doing, if you have the time. One note, typically that tour the first day has a lot of people. I'm not sure if it's done another time, though, on a 3 night cruise.

There's also an Art of the Theme Ship tour later in the cruise.

I can't directly speak for the tour but I learned the ship pretty fast. I find exploring on your own time might be better, because you get to has the sense of exploring and finding new things, and because the first day is pretty busy. I can't say if the tour is good or not, but it is all your choice.

Having fun cruising

I'm going to be a little different here. Its not my thing but I knew dh would love it so on one of our not so long ago cruises I mentioned he should go. The meet up was at the circle by the shops, right in front of the walt theater. I walked with him there and left. Went back to the cabin to see if they were ready, grabbed a drink from the top deck, wondered around a bit and went back to the drop off point. Probably gone 20 minutes. They had not moved from there. Still at the meet up spot and discussing pretty much nothing. They eventually walked off and I didn't see dh for another twenty minutes or so.

He said it was a huge waste of time (just his opinion and being his wife I know he's not always right :rolleyes1) and they really didn't see anything that you couldn't see from just wandering the ship on your own. Now I should mention that we have been sailing DCL for 10ish years and know the ships pretty well. He said that if you were not at all familiar with the ships it might have been worth the time to get to know where things were located however he did not learn a thing.
I think that it really can't hurt to go, its only 45 minutes and others have enjoyed it. According to DH, don't expect to much.

I did it on my first cruise and enjoyed it, but haven't done it since. DH does it every cruise and loves it. Keep in mind, that if you join the tour and find it's not for you or it's taking too long, just leave the group. No one will judge you. :teeth:

I have read since we are coming from the resorts we won't board until later than 1:00, we are doing a 4 night and I would like to do the tour.

The buses from the resorts arrive anywhere in the 12:00-2:30 window. Depends on when you get picked up (pick up window is 10:45-12:30ish). No way of knowing what your pick up time is until the night before the cruise.

We did the tour on the Wonder the first time we were on it and loved it. Next October we will be doing the same for the Fantasy. My answer would be yes! It is worth the time.

The first time on the Wonder, we didn't do the tour...wished we had. First time on the Fantasy, we did the tour....glad I did. Second time on the Wonder, we did the Art of the Theme tour, and it was great.

That was the reason we couldn't do it on our first DCL cruise. We arrived just way too late for it.

Here's highlights from the Wonder for those who missed it! Or those who want to prep themselves with answers for an upcoming tour.

I'll just point out that the Walking Ship Tour (on the first day) and the Art of the Theme Ship Tour (later in the cruise) are two different tours.

What's the difference? Don't think there was a Walking Ship tour on my AK trip 2 years ago. I did the Art of the Theme right after the embarkation muster (or was it before).

Well, in reality, the tours are pretty much quite similar. However, the Art of the Theme ship is supposed to talk more about why the specific designs/colors are used around the ship. The Walking Ship tour is just more of a "get acquainted" with the ship tour (as in where things are located).

But I believe the same people run the tours, so there's probably a bit of overlap in the information between the two.
