Walking to Disney Challenge #2

Tonight, I did things a little different. I went to the track at my kids school and walked around with my DD. I am trying to help her get ready for her trip as well. We only did one mile so my total since starting on this thread is 6/545. But the good news is I am doing at least 1 mile everyday. In order to walk to Disney, I am going to have to increase that to about 3 or 4 miles a day but we will see what we can do.

I'll join the challenge. It is 620.7 miles form my front door to the Grand Floridian. Once I walk there, I'll stay there. So far I have walked 8 miles.
 
:thumbsup2 I did another 2 miles tonight at the gym and that brings me to 8/545. I have a long way to go but I am looking at the rest of the picture as well. Even with my weight still the same, my waist is smaller and tighter. I am burning 400 - 500 calories each cardio session that I do. I am enjoying my cardio time more and I am increasing my time. I will be ready for my trip, physically and emotionally. I will be in the best shape of my life, regardless. :cool1:

That's great to hear bubba73. :thumbsup2 I'm not fully able to extend my leg since partially tearing the muscle in my calf, but it won't be long before I'm walking for fitness again.

We started The Biggest Loser at work last week. Despite being injured I managed to lose 4 pounds! There were a few other contributors to my success - watching what I ate and being sick all week. We each have a 30 day pass to a local gym, and I can't wait until I'm mended and can take advantage of it.

Keep up the good work everyone......warmer weather is coming for those of us who like to walk outdoors.
 
So... I signed up quite awhile ago and haven't logged any of my miles, so I'll start... yesterday. Last night I went 3.3 miles. I am going to only count "intentional" miles, not ones I log at work during the day, therefore I will wear my pedometer any time I do a workout or go for a run. I just decided that I'm doing a half marathon in May, so that will up the mileage considerably!
 
:wave2: Hi Ashley! It won't take long to rack up the miles! I have counted up the second half of the month, and updated my siggie. I am at 21% of the goal, and (not counting today :blush: ) getting better at getting to Curves. I am half way through Ohio. Oooooh! It's going up to 12ºC tomorrow! MUCH BETTER than the -1ºC that they are calling for HERE! Florida, here I come!

:cheer2: Hi! This thread is very interesting. I found out it is 1179 miles from my front door to my dvc in VWL so if I can walk 4 miles a day it would take me roughly 295 days to get there and we actually will be there in 315 days so that could work out great. Now I am excited today and have every intention to do this since I turn 40 on Jan 17, 2007 and my goal is to be in MK 120 lbs lighter on my birthday. I need to start something because it will be here before you know it. Thanks for the thread. Good luck everyone. :cheer2:

Here I am with another update. I had a bad week as far as getting to the gym to do my exercise and walking. My job has been keeping me mighty busy but this is the befinning of a new week so here we go. As far as distance, I have went 18/545. Still a long way to go and time is running down. As far as weightloss, I have lost 6 pounds out of the 15 that I set as a goal so well on my way to achieving that one. :thumbsup2
 
I'm back on my feet again, well I was never off them. My calf injury kept me from walking normally for the past three weeks, just as the Dr. said. I finally put my pedometer back on my waist on 3/1, and yesterday at work I racked up 4.86 miles. My current total is 518.78, 85.69 since January this year. I'm anticipating heading to the gym in the near future to use the treadmill.

Hi I am new to this site and think this a great idea to stay motivated. I need all the help I can get. We are going to Animal Kingdom in July and I would love not to have to worry about not fitting on the new Expedition Everest coaster. So I am in for 549 miles. Thats only 4 miles a day. Wish me luck. :wave:

I started having some aches and pains yesterday but was able to walk 3 miles anyhow. My right ankle is partially fused, so it gives me kind of a funny gait. When I walk distances it starts to cause pain in other joints. Yesterday my left ankle was realy aching, but it subsided after a mile or so.

Can't wait to walk some more today :banana:
 
I have some good news and some bad news...
Bad news first - I am not going to Disney World as I had originally hoped in October or February. Financial reasons make this impossible.

Good News - I am still going to "Walk to Disney World" - the only difference being that when I "get there" I will hopefully have my finances in order enough to start planning a real trip.

Progress so far... 48/700 :cool1:

I walked a mile today. I had hoped for more but the wind was very cold. Anyway hoping for more tomorrow. 1/549. :teeth:
 
OK another update...since I am training for the MINNIE marathon, I am really racking up the miles...LOL...I am now...

43/1013........only 970 to go!!
 
:cool1: We (Biggest Loser team) walked 2 miles at lunch today. I capped that with a 30 minute walk on the treadmill at the gym after work. Total for today 5.6 miles!

For this year: 98.18 miles
since 3/9/05: 531.27 miles (51.9%)
