Walking through the Quiet Cove Area?

We will be all the way forward on deck 9. I hope to be able to take the steps up to deck 11 whenever we need to go up to the pool, etc.

Is there a division between the walk way and the Adult area ? We will have 4kids in our group. Can they walk through the Cove area to get to the Cabanas end?

Thanks!

I'm sure you'll get lots of people that say no, but I did this on my recent Dream cruise. We stayed on Deck 10, literally right below that area and would always take the stairs up and go out that way. Just as a warning, the door actually leads out into the CENTER of the Quiet Cove area, which was odd to walk through, but my dd, 6, and I would walk through whenever we went up. Just make sure that your kids are well behaved, not running, yelling, etc, and I think it's fine :thumbsup2

Kids walk through all the time. I think the deal is that they don't want the kids to be hanging out there. They can't help but walk through the quiet cove to get to the 11th forward elevators.

Also, the "quiet cove" really wasn't that quiet as they had live music there most afternoons. During our day at sea, they had a jimmy buffet type guy and all of these adults were hanging out drinking beer.

The question is "can they" or "should they?" If you are going to an aft location, why not walk aft on the level of your stateroom and then take the stairs or elevator?

Reality--kids walk, skip, run, yell, etc. thru all the time.

Other reality--Disney's signage says "This area reserved for guests 18 and over." It doesn't say "unless just passing thru."

You're asking if it's OK for you to break a posted rule because you find it inconvenient.

I think you already know the answer to your question.

Isn't it strange how rules are made/asked for 'someone else?.'

I'm assuming that everyone who has responded to the OP question has been on the Dream. I blame Disney for this one, the set-up of the Adults Only area in relation to the pools and other family areas is all messed up. There is a family area on Deck 13 forward with plenty of lounge chairs, if you are on Decks 11 or 12 near the pools you get to this family area by walking through the Adults Only area. There is NO other way to get to this area, there is a bar in the middle, the left side for families and the right adults only, there is no elevator or stairs other than the ones that go through the adults only space.

Our DIS meet was on Deck 13 family area, the only way we could find to get there was to go through the Quiet Cove area. Anyone else have this problem?

I thought the OP was asking how the logistics were for guests staying in cabins located by Quiet Cove and how to get to other decks without breaking rules. I'm one of those adults who don't want kids around the Quiet Cove area, but if there's not a decent way for people to avoid it, we can't blame the guests for trying to do the right thing.

I agree. For those who've been on the Dream, if you can give another specific way of getting around it, it might help more than just reprimanding them for breaking rules. And if Disney absolutely doesn't want kids in that area, they're going to have to put specific detour signs around there so people know where to walk.

We actually accidentally walked through the area (we came up the forward stairs, needing to go to deck 11 and ended up in that area (before we knew the layout of the ship). After that, we walked through there a couple times (only once more with the kids). This is purely a design flaw. Just like we had to walk through Cabanas to get to our aft room all of the time (and always had to clean our hands to do so- not a bad thing btw). I am not a rule breaker, but the designers of this ship did NOT make it easy to get anywhere on Deck 11 without being in Cabanas or the Adult Only area.

The OP is staying forward on deck 9. They are asking if they can walk up to deck 11 and walk through the Quiet Cove area to access to family pool area. They did not mention deck 13. Since Quiet Cove is 18 and over, I would say no, please don't walk up from deck 9 to deck 11 and then walk through Quiet Cove with your kids. Most of the ship is dedicated to children and families. Please respect the 18 and over rule of Quiet Cove and leave that area to the adults. There is no reason someone on deck 9 can't walk down the hall to the midship stairs or elevators and take them directly to the family areas without walking through the 18 and over area. It's the same amount of walking so it should not be an inconvenience at all to respect Disney's rule on Quiet Cove.

I would just walk through the area. The design is flawed and DCL will not stop you from doing it. The bottom line is that the opinions of people here on this issue are not relevant(mine included), we don't work for DCL. If DCL chooses to enforce their rule then so be it and I would applaud them for doing it but at this point they are not so screw it.

On the Dream, it would be nice if DCL would put a notice in the forward elevators by that Deck's # even if just to "forewarn" that the area right outside the doors is supposed to be for >18. It's just unfortunate the way it's designed.

Haven't seen DCL prohibit any <18 from walking through, but I have seen them usher out <18 who were hanging out there, so I believe they do see a difference between the two, even if they aren't explicit about that. (As they are not explicit about many of their rules/guidelines/etc.)

On the Magic last week I spent a lot of time in the Quiet Cove pool area. Occasionally families would walk through. Most of the time I had no problems when they did this, but sometimes they would come and stop and sometimes the children would be yelling and screaming (what is with that piercing scream that some children give off :confused3). This did bother me somewhat, but then again I wasn't wild when the cruise staff came on and started playing some stupid pool games either. It is supposed to be a quiet pool area.

It is supposed to be a quiet pool area.

I'm not aware of any place where it says that this is supposed to be a quiet area. "Quiet Cove" is the name of the place, in the same way the "Serenity Bay" is. While I agree that the name implies that it would be quiet, that's not a set thing. Yes, they have times of music, pool games, etc.

Hi, just curious what room you were in? We are going to be in the same general area, on the 10th deck, forward. Did you like your room assignment? thanks!

What is the "rule" for that area anyway?

If you go by what DCL has on it's website, it seems to be a gray area. It just states:

Quiet Cove Pool, one of 3 freshwater pools on the Disney Dream, is a pool located at Deck 11, Forward reserved for Guests 18 years of age and older.

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/dream/pools/quiet-cove-pool/

To me, that implies that the pool area is just to be used by guests 18 and older. Walking through isn't the same as using it - at least in my book. Is there something that says, "No one under 18 is allowed in these areas at all."

I'm asking an honest question. Because the way it is worded, they just don't want kids hanging out there and using the facilities.

But that's just my two cents.

There are signs at the entrance to the area (by the Cove Cafe and by the forward elevators) that read "This area reserved for guests 18 and over. The Cove Cafe (located right next to the Quiet Cove pool) is also an adults only area. In addition, on the Magic and Wonder, the only other thing on deck 9 forward is the Vista Spa--also adults only except for the salon. Thus, there are few reasons for children to need to use the 9 forward elevators on those ships (although the little lobby area by the elevators is open to anyone).

It's the same walking distance for children to take the midship or aft elevators to get to the pool deck spaces that are available for their use--walk over on the deck you are "living" on then take the stairs or elevator rather than riding up and walking thru an adult only area.

We were in 10504 and loved it! I'm not sure if you have a verandah room, but ours was 3 doors down from the bridge and it was neat watching the crew! Also, quick trip up to Quiet Cove and the quick service areas. Be sure to use the forward elevators because the midship were usually way too busy! :thumbsup2

I get that. But saying an area is "reserved" for guests 18 and over implies use of that area - at least to me. Walking through isn't the same as "using."

Seems to me if DCL did not want children walking through, they would put up signage that says something like, "This area is for adults only. No one under 18 admitted."
