I've read that a lot of you recommend Teva sandals for the hot summer months but I'm wondering if you have a suggestion for children? I think that tennis shoes might make their feet pretty hot? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Depends on the age of your child--when mine was 2--we put her in sneakers but she could take them and the socks off when she rode her her stroller.

Now, I will allow her to wear fastened sandles--but just the regular ones she always wears from Target or wherever I purchased.

I'm not podiatrist or anything so I am not sure of the effect on her feet--she will be 4 soon and is still in that stroller category if she is tired and doesn't feel like walking.

Age would help--but I like the stride right brand of sandles for the younger bunch if you want a good shoe.

Also--get in the water at EPCOT (the play fountains) and MGM (Honey I shrunk the kids playground) to help cool off hot feet.

I just bought Teva's for my DD. In the past she has worn tennis shoes. The heat wasn't the problem, but wet feet were from the afternoon showers. The shoe store recommended the Teva's.

I've also bought Tevas for both of my children. The children's ones are hard to find, but usually they can be found at a Stride Rite store. www.teva.com sells them in all sizes, down to a child's size 6 I believe. I bought DS's here, because they didn't have his size in stock at Stride Rite. They are just a well put together as mine, so they are worth the price!

I appreciate all the replies. The thought of the wet tennis brings back memories of using the hairdryer to try and get them somewhat wearable at Disney! Thanks again.

OshKosh makes a good and very affordable line of sport sandals for little kids. If you have a Marshall's nearby, they often have them for less than $10.

Bass also makes children's sizes, but not toddler sizes. and Merrell has a line of serious amphibious sandals for older kids. Land's End's new water sandals are available in kids' sizes, too, but I hear that they are so popular right now that backorders are becoming an issue.

Adidas makes a shoe too. It is the clima cool and similar to the one Lands End is selling. Looks like just want I want for the trip. It is breatheable with mesh sides and has ventilation and they actually have some sort of drainage system when they get wet.

Both DH and I have Teva's and LOVE them. Both of my DD also have Tevas. The smallest we have bought is for 2/3 (babies). DD6 always had small feet and was walking in that size. DD2 has monster feet and outgrew them before even attempting to walk. I have always ordered the kids sizes directly from Teva at the website. We usually use them at the beach and recently in the Bahamas. I hadn't thought about them being good at Disney, having a DUH moment!

Teva's should be the official footwear of Disney IMHO. They are great for young and old alike. All the kids wear them.
