Yet another shoe question ??? Are they really that comfortable ??
can you spend a whole week in them ??? I have really wanted to buy a pair but they are soooo expensive... Are they worth the price ??
How much do they need broke in ??

I love my birks. I would say i could spend a week in them. They took me about 3-5 days to really get used to though. I had a heel problem and someone suggested them to me. HAven't had a problem since. I don't where them all the time but I do wear the shoe inserts in every pair of my shoes that i have. I couldn't live w/o those. They are the blue footbeds made by Birkenstock.

I love my sandals, I wore them the whole week while at Disney and my feet felt great. They really need to be broken in before wearing, also when you first wear them don't wear them all day because your body may need to adjust to the arch support. They are a stiffer type of sandal not at all like crocs. Birks will last a long time as long as you don't get the footbed soaking wet. I have been wearing the sandals and clogs for over two years now, regular shoes now seem too confining.

I loved my sandals till DH cleaned out our closet and threw one away :( I actually had two pair, two different styles. Unfortunately, the one that was discarded was part of my favorite pair. The biggest thing to remember is that they run big. I found that you need a full size smaller. I also agree about giving yourself time to get used to them, otherwise they will really feel strange to you. Until I lost mine, they had taken three or four trips to Disney.

It took me about a month or so to break my birks in. They do run large, but I found that to be a blessing when my feet swelled from my sneakers, my birks were great. I took Etonic sneakers, teva sandals, crocs, and birks. The birks are what saved me!!! I do have very wide feet. :sad1:

I live in my Birk's. I stand on my feet all day long and wear my Birk's. Even had my husband try a pair and now he wears them in the summer. I found if I have to wear other shoes as soon as I get home I'll put on my Birk's instead of going barefoot. The cheapest place I have found them is on QVC or sometimes Sam's Club gets them in for around $40.

The biggest problem with birks is if they get wet, sometimes they can smell. Otherwise, they are fabulous.

When I wore sneakers @WDW Iwould get huge blisters. By the end of the week I could bearly walk. Started wearing Berks about 5 years ago, and three trips to Disney later NO blisters. In fact, I just bought the cuteist pair from HSN last week for our trip to Disney in May. I love them.

I bought a pair when I went on to Europe awhile ago and knew I would be doing a lot of walking, they were really comfy and support your foot.

I bought mine at Nordstrom and the sales clerk said if anything happens to them (they break, the sole seperates, etc) you could bring them back to Nordstrom and they would give you a new pair- even if you brought them back like 15 years later.

I LOVE my Birks, BUT. . .in June at Disney World in the Rain, they didn't help at all in the rainy times. I couldn't get traction on my feet pushing our stroller and my feet kept slipping out of them. I would wear them on non-rainy days but get some teva type sandals for those rainy nights, they worked wonders for me in the parks.

I bought an expensive pair of tennis shoes for my last trip and walked every day in them for a month before going. Well, one hour into my trip I felt hot spots so I put on my Birk's and wore them for the entire week. The best thing about them is that you can discreetly slip them off your feet for a minute just to cool off. I don't think I would wear anything else!!

I bought a pair of Merrill sandals, in a thong style, and I questioned if I could wear them for long periods. BOY oh BOY...they are great. The heel is well supported along with the rest of the foot, great traction, and the material on the sole, seems to whisk away wetness. I don't even have to think twice that they will save my feet while at WDW. :sunny: :thumbsup2

I've had mine about 10 years; my sister has a pair that are 20yrs old, been re-soled twice. they are really great shoes, well worth the price. I love my Birks but there is no way I could wear them for a whole week. Mine are the two-strap kind, with no heel strap. If I wear them long the top of my foot gets sore, then my shins start to hurt. My feet are terribly flat and even though Birks have tremendous arch support, they aren't enough.

Once the warm weather gets here, I pretty much wear nothing but Birks. They are very comfortable and the many different styles they have available now make them wearable for many different occasions. I wore my black strappy sandals to CG for dinner after wearing them all week in the parks.
They take a few days to break in. For me, it is all about breaking in the straps. Both the leather and non-leather take a few wears to get supple. I would also suggest going to a Birkenstock store where you can get measured for the first pair since they run on European sizes.

I love my birki's too. I have a lot of different pairs in different colors and wear them every time I go to DW!! I never have a problem with sore feet when I wear them. I don't have a problem with breaking them in either. I think they are the most comfortable sandal made!! I have easily spent more then one week in them when we go :cool1: to Disney!

My feet are somewhat flat, and I find Birki's to be therapeutic for them. I didn't try them until after my last WDW trip, so I've never worn them there. But at home and work, I wear my Birki clogs or sandals whenever I can. They really work for me. :)

Thanks so much to everyone for the Great replys...
I went to the Birk store tonight and got my first pair... I have been wanting a pair for a long long time.. But since I couldnt wear them to work I just couldnt justify the price.. But know ... Yeh... the foot wear policy has changed... So I can wear them there also....
Great suggestion about having them measure your foot (she did) I would have absolutley No Idea what size to buy... Now that I know... I can get the other styles I want off the net for soooo much cheaper...
I bought the wide 2 strap ones... (not sure what they are called)
we are not going until Aug... so they should be nice and comfy by then...
Thanks Again.....
