Walking from and between DVC resorts

I know I can walk from BCV to BWV. I can also walk from VWL to Fort Wilderness. Will you be able to walk from SSR to OKW?

Also, can you walk from SSR and OKW to anything besides Downtown Disney?

My husband and I like to take long walks, especially in the evenings. This is one reason we bought at BCV: you can walk to BWV, Epcot, MGM, Fantasia golf (I think).

So I'm wondering which of the other resorts would be really good for walking? Which would have good places to walk to? I'm especially curious about SSR.

I have some fuzzy maps and some general maps. I have maps that show just the resorts, but I'm not clear on all the places you can walk to. Can someone help me out? Point me to another thread?

yes, you could walk for SSR to OKW, but in order to do so you would have to get to westside. the path starts near the back of the theatre for cirque do soliel.

Although I think the walk through Downtown Disney on the way to Old Key West would be a pleasent one I don't think you'd have to take that route. There is a bridge across the water way that leads to OKW. You should be able to stay on the Saratoga Springs side of the water and cross this bridge to get to OKW.

It sure would be nice if they would publish a map showing all these walk ways wouldn't it?

The bridge mentioned is actually for golf carts. It's unclear whether pedestrians are to use this bridge or not. If you do, you have to actually walk along the golf cart path up to the clubhouse before you get to a regular sidewalk. The path(on the SSR side) winds a little and golf carts travel pretty fast around the curves. Because of the foliage you can't see very far ahead. Pedestrians would be in danger of getting hit by golf carts. There is a sign on the bridge that says 'no jogging'. So does that mean not to use the bridge at all? Unclear.

If you leave Westside to follow the path to OKW, the sign at the beginning of the path says pathway to Saratoga Springs. Reading that sign, since the golf cart bridge is the only way to get to SSR from that path, it seems they mean to use the bridge as a walking path.

Maybe they'll put up some better signage.

There are signs posted that the golf course paths are only for golfers.

SSR and OKW offer lots of opportunity for enjoyable walks within and between the two resorts. If you add in walking around the entire DD complex that makes quite a trip. (If you really want mileage, you could also walk up the Hotel Plaza street, too.)

It would be wonderful. We come to Florida to be outdoors, while it's still cold and yucky in New England. Some enterprising mapmaker would have me as a very grateful customer
