Walking for my Dream (Comments welcomed)

Did not make it to the gym today. Big storm with blizzard like conditions in the morning and freezing rain tonight. So I stayed put. But I wasn't idle. I cleaned out the basement. My DD will be moving home soon and I need to clear the basement to accomadate her stuff. A much needed and long overdue job. Very dirty too. Yuk.:guilty: I'de rather have been on the TM. But I'm quite proud of my accomplishment. :woohoo: Though now my porch looks awful until the garbage comes next. Full of all the stuff I'm throwing out.
Nights tomrorrow so not gym until Sunday for me. Oh well. Its only one night.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Carole,

The weather has certainly been weird this winter hasn't it? For us, it started off quite mild and then we had snowstorm after snowstorm. Today, it is a beautiful sunny day, it's cold, we have wind gusts of 40+ mph, and many local areas have flood warnings because the rivers are jammed with ice and the water can't flow into Lake Erie.

That is great that you were able to get the basement cleaned out. That definitely counts as exercise for the day!:goodvibes

Hope you have a great weekend!:cool1:

Good Morning:

Didn't exercise yesterday but plan on cleaning my house today and getting clothes together for our trip on Weds. That won't count on my total but I'll squeeze in an elliptical workout today - may try a fat burner for a change.

Check out my new clip art - Hub made us magnets for the fridge and one for my car like this. It'll remind us that we need to continue to reach for our goal and that we are "in training". He's a sign maker so he has all kinds of talent - pretty much whatever he can draw I can make into a quilt. Too bad we're too busy every night to get anything accomplished except reduce our waistline!

Have a great weekend, a little bit here and there will reach our goals!

I worked nights last night so no exercise for me today. So far March has not been a great gym month for me. Tomorrow though and the rest of the week I'll get back at it. I'm really missing it.

Denise your husband is very talented. That would make a great t-shirt logo. I learned at Quilt Canada how to do silk screening. It was a great class...lots of fun. Though I have all the necessary stuff I have never done it again. I keep meaning to do some but other stuff gets in my way. Lately that would be exercise.

My DH who hates exercise went to the doctors yesterday and got told to exercise daily for at least 50 minutes. Heart disease runs in his family and his cholesterol is a bit high. Now I've been trying to get him out with no luck. Now he's willing to join me walking once the weather gets better. That will be great because I'll have my DD at the gym and DH in the evenings walking. Though he is a bit of a slow walker...he will need to speed up his pace. Maybe I'll make him wear the Garmin. lol.

Tracy hope you've been able to get outside again. Its getting warmer here but the sidewalks are still ice. I'm hoping that was winters last hurrah.

Have a great weekend!

Carole--sorry to hear you haven't been able to get workouts in the last few days, don't worry you will get back into it before you know it. Hang in there with all the snow, we got lucky today and had temps in the upper 50's it was awesome.

That will be cool to get your DH exercising with you also. IT is great to have someone to exercise with, helps with motivation.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

That's great he has to exercise too. Yesterday I wanted to do a quick workout on the ellip - too busy. Well we ended up doin 68 min. 38 on the ellip and 30 on the mill. I was beat after that! I tried a new progam(for me) weight loss and it was tough but I figured to try it on the weekend so I could recover after. I know I would have done my regular 30 min and that would hav been it but Mark wanted to do the ellip after me so I went on the mill. Hence the 68 min. Very good to have a partner to work out with.

I tried on all my shorts for next week and they FIT. Some that I could not wear in Dec now fit... Very exciting.

Have a great day. Off to finish making my bacon and eggs :coffee:

I hope your DH is better than mine at exercising like the Dr. says, Carole!

Glad you accomplished cleaning the basement - that's a real accomplishement in my books!

Have a GREAT week!

:goodvibes Yeah Denise...what a great feeling re the shorts!!:cool1:

Julie...I haven't seen any real exercise happening yet. But the weather has not been such that we can go for a walk outside. Its supposed to warm up at the end of the week so hopefully we can get out then. Now he did move alot of snow today so he was active.

I finally made it to the gym:) and got a full weight workout and 40 minutes on the TM. Boy did it feel good!

Tomorrow I do 4 miles on the TM. First time.:scared:

Carole-sounds like you had a great workout at the gym today! Isn't that a great feeling!

Good luck with your TM run tomorrow. I have a 4 miler set for tomorrow, although I hope to get outside for it, but I am afraid it may be a little cold for it tomorrow but we will see.

Well I did 32 min on the ellip tonight. I have to do paperwork for my husbands business - payroll etc and then do my nails.

I may do the TM in the am on tuesday but I highly doubt that - depends on how much sleep I get.

No workout on Weds we're in flight and our tradition is to walk over to Mexico and have a Margarita and nachos for lunch. BUT we did agree to do a morning run/walk the rest of the time there.

We have a hands and feet massage(ceremony) at the Spa on Saturday morning -I"m sure we'll need it by then.

Oh and Carole we have GREAT things to celebrate in addition to my husbands birthday. My quilt -Sweet Treats was accepted at Quilters Heritage Celebration in Lacaster PA. Whoo Hoo! It will be on display in April when we go down for the show. So we'll toast the birthday boy and my acceptance with our Margarita's...

I'll try and post tomorrow but then you won't hear from me until Tuesday the 13th.

Have a good week.

Congratulations Denise. What an honour! I've had one quilt juried and won at the Ontario Juried Show. It was so great to see the ribbon on it and hanging up for everyone to see. MY DD told everyone in the room that was there at the time that it was done by her mom. Now that was embarressing but there was no stopping her.:rotfl: Enjoy your trip! A foot massage sounds like a wonderful idea. Hmnn... Tell Mickey I'll be there soon.

Thanks Laurie. And I did my 4 mile TM today and I'm happy to say I could have gone longer but didn't because I was also quite happy to quit there. I did 15:00 miles. Now I at this point cannot picture doing 13 of those or 26 at that pace. But that is the pace I would have to keep to finish a Disney half or full Marathon. So I'm not ready yet. Not by a long shot. But maybe in two months I will be doing 8 miles. I hope so. One step at a time it will happen. At least I'm not hurting anywhere.

Thank

I highly doubt I'll get a ribbon but it is exciting.

I saw a quote today and thought of all of us.

"That thumping in your chest while you exercise is your heart applauding!"

So true.

Carole--I know the feeling about imagining doing 13 or even 26 miles. When I first started training it really scared me. Now I have trained myself to not even think about it. I only concentrate on my long run for the week and go from there. With training we can all finish these races. You have plenty of time to train and you will get there, just take it one workout at a time!

Great job on the exercise, Carole! Hope your weather improves soon!

Denise...I love that quote. Have a great trip Wednesday!
BTW have you ever gone to Pudukah during the festival. Awesome quilts.

Thanks Laurie. Best not to think too far in advance. A year ago I would have told someone they were crazy if they suggested I'de be walking 4 miles.
My next goal is to get to 6 miles by June as I am signed up for a 10K race. That seems doable right now...though I have never done it before. lol.

Thanks Julie. I really appreciate your support. I appreciate everyone dropping in and giving me encouragement. It means alot to me.

I did a full workout today with TM and weights and abds. My gym partner, DD is back a the gym feeling better again. Nice to have her back.

Wow...I must be addicted. I am not a morning person but I had a busy day planned but still wanted to get my gym time in. I actually got up at 6:30:scared1: so I could get to the gym!!! I think this is a good thing. Its just not me.:confused3 And even stranger I plan on going to the gym again tomorrow morning as I have a hair appt in the afternoon. Could this be a new me??? Hmnnnn.......

Carole, Isn't it great when everything comes together and exercise and healthy eating becomes your lifestyle and not an occasional occurance?

Carole--you are doing awesome! It is great when you get into a routine and then it gets easier and easier to make sure you get the workouts in. Lately, I really look forward to my workouts, and I get really frustrated if I can't fit them in.

You are doing such a great job, kee up the good work!
