Walking for my Dream (Comments welcomed)

Happy Valentines Day!

Denise that meal sounds wonderful! For some reason these golf buddies of Rick always plan their golf getaway over Valentines. Two of them are divorced now. Hmnn.
Hope your Valentines is perfect!

Luckily it only snowed about 6 inches here and its the powder snow thats easy to drive through. The kind that skiers dream about. So I'm not going to bother shovelling. I spent last night with a heating pad on my back..no need to aggravate it. I'm working nights tonight and tommorow night so I'll have three days rest from the gym. That should do the trick. Though I am going to miss the MIll.

I started a Memory quilt for a woman whose husband asked me to do it for their 25th Anniversary coming up next year. I never take money but he agreed to make a wooden arbour for my son's outdoor (please no rain that day!!!) wedding. I'm using a log cabin style for the centre medalion with their wedding pics and also growing up before marraige in the centre. And then adding borders of honeymoon, then the three children, the pets, favourite holidays each with their own borders. All in tans and cream with sepia tinted photos. Not sure what blocks I will use in the borders yet. The centre medalion is coming out beautifully.

I'm very impressed with his thinking of this gift and planning so far in advance.

Enjoy your day

Finally had an excellent workout today. Went to our Guild Meeting last night. We had a local speaker - Carol Doak. She lives here in NH about 20 min from us. Good time and she has a lot of beautiful quilts. Bought a CD of her patterns to print on the computer. 50 paper pieced stars. I have the book so this will make it easier.

I hope your workouts are coming along and your daughter is still making you move. I made mine move today. She was going to take today off but when she called and I was already 1/2 way through my workout she felt she should go to the gym. I gues we're good for each other.

Enjoy your weekend.

It's good to be back exercising again. I worked two night shifts and that really puts me out of commision for three days. I did get to the gym yesterday. But only did cardio. I'll get in a full workout today. At least I'm hoping to get to the gym. I'm waiting for my DS first. He is supposed to pop over and he is late.

Denise..I've done several of Carol Doaks patterns. That would have been so cool to see her. I used to do Round Robins and have used her PP stars for borders several times.

Take care,enjoy your workouts!

Hi Carole--Just checking in to see how you are doing....good to hear that you got back to the gym yesterday after a few days off. I know the feeling about trying to fit it in with my work schedule.

Keep up the good work!!

Hi,
I did 50 minutes on the TM today. It felt great. Last time I did 50 minutes it was great but I felt more tired than today. I think my muscles are getting stronger. The leg pain is still gone. I see my personal trainer tomorrow and will be changing my routine. I'll be letting her know about the pain that I think now was caused by the abd workout.

And DH got home from Florida. And the quilt store purchase was wonderful! He got me a pattern called Beach Houses and seven fat quarters of beach type fabrics to use in it. I asked him if he had help from the quilt store worker and he said no---he picked them all out himself. OK...they might not be ones I would have picked myself. But they are cute and will be going in the wallhanging. The pattern is adorable.

Tomorrow is just 20 minutes on the TM. Then see my personal trainer. Should be a good day.

Oh and I'm only one pound and a bit to get into the 120's!!!!! Why is it that 129 is better than 131???

I only got in 20 minutes on the TM before it was time to see Eva, my personal trainer. We changed some of the weight program and abd exercises to make sure I wasn't doing anything to hurt my back. I really like getting her to change the fitness program every few weeks. Keeps it from being boring. Tomorrow is my son's fiance's (sp) birthday and I'm doing a dinner for her so getting to the gym is a bit tight. But I am going to try because I need to remember all the new routines before its gone completely.

Went to my small quilt group tonight. Just usually 6 of us getting together. I like a small group.

I just found out my local running room runs a Disney marathon clinic starting in Sept. I'm so excited!!!:cloud9:

Disney marathon clinic! That's great!!!! Wish we had that here, but we're on our own in the training process.

We have been working out an Hour each day and I can really feel the difference in my legs and strength.

Mark and I go to Disney to celebrate his birthday in 2 weeks and we plan on trying to walk/run in the early am to see how we do on pavement rather than on the machines. All our streets and sidewalks have snow/ice right now so it'll be a while before we venture outside to train.

Have a good day and enjoy your special meal. My SIL, niece, DD and sons GF plan on starting a small group next week. We've tried for several weeks but we're all so busy but next week for sure.

I did manage to get to the gym and did some weights and 30 minutes TM. The dinner went well too.

I'm very jealous of your going to Florida so soon. I'm curious myself what it will be like training on streets instead of the TM. I think the TM absorbs shock well. Not so on the street. I'm not a big fan of concrete. And then there are hills and valleys. But it will be great to see some scenery and feel the fresh air. Before all this nonsense with my ankle I used to love to just walk. At an easy pace mind you and never with the idea of it being a cardio workout. My city has a nice network of walking paths that go both east and west and north and south across the city. My dog and I are going to be enjoying them alot this year.

Hi, Carole! How exciting to have that clinic to look forward to. I hope you find a great bunch of Disney enthusiasts to share the training with at a level that is suited to what you are planning. Very cool, indeed! :thumbsup2 I haven't found a walking or even walk/jog group that goes at a pace I can keep up with, so I may have to live vicariously through you! :goodvibes:

Have a great night!

Not sure what happened today but all my plans, going to aquafit with a friend and then hitting my gym for a TM workout fizzled. lol. I basically never quite got out of bed.
This happens to me during my night shift stint. Even though I'm on days off in between the night shifts. My body calls a halt and says SLEEP or be sick. I sleep so much more during my night shifts than when I do a stretch of days. I'm booked to do three nights starting tomorrow so I will be MIA for awhile here.
Cam I am really looking forward to these clinics. My first clinic is the 10 K walking one in April. There is a 10 K race in June I could sign up for but I'm waiting to see if the 5K race in April goes well first before signing up for the 10K. I'm a little nervous because I've never ever entered a race before. lol. I'll make sure I'm not in a night shift stint beforehand.
Hope you have a great weekend!:wave2:

Carole--I am so jealous--a disney marathon clinic!!! That is awesome!! I wish I could find something around my area that has one of those. Good luck with that, I can't wait to hear about it.

Hang in there with those night shifts, I couldn't imagine working those hours. I am totally not a night person!!

I hope you have an awesome weekend!

Still working hard. I took Thursday off, Like you my body said NOPE not today so I rested and planned on resting again Friday but Mark wanted to work out and stay in because it was cold --so we did just that. It was fun. We had a frozen pizza and 1 margarita. I was in bed by 9:30 and slept like a baby.

Sat and Sun worked our for 60+ min both days and feel pretty good but it does make me tired. So I'm sure your crazy schedule and extra work outs will drag you down. I can't imagine how you sleep at all without a regular routine. I'd be a mess.

Keep us posed on your Disney Training... have you and your daughter signed up for the 1/2 marathon? Think about it. - No don't think, just do it!

denise

Hey Denise...I saw you are over the Feb Challenge amount already. Good for you!!!! I don't think I will get mine in . I was only counting cardio minutes which was dumb.
Just one more night tonight. Yeah!
MY DD and I have decided on 2009 for the Marathon. For a few reasons. Its my 30th anniversary next year` and am planning a big trip. DD needs to save money. And I'm taking it slow to build up the miles. It will come.

Off to get ready for work.:laundy: (OK it was the only working smilie I could find. lol )

Carole-that is great that you decided on the 2009 marathon. You will so be ready by then. You should try to do some other races in the meantime to get you ready, as that is quite a long time away.

Keep up the good work!

Sounds like your training is going VERY well, Carole. A Disney Marathon clinic?? How cool is that???? Can we all come???

Take it easy on your night shifts. That can take a lot out of you!

Have a GREAT rest of the week!

Yeah!!! My night shifts are over until Sat! Hoping---no going! to the gym tomorrow. DD is down with a UTI so I'll be on my own.

Julie I'de love to bring all my Dis friends to the clinic. I noticed a bunch running this week in horrible weather. They scare me a little. OK...alot. I really hate cold. I wonder if I can be that dedicated. That clinic for Disney starts in Sept. I'm doing a 10 K clinic in April.

Laurie I am walking a 5 K in April and considering signing up for a 10 K in June. I'm going to see how the 5K goes first. Then I'm going to look for a half marathon next. My DH is now onboard for cheering me on in the Disney marathon.

Cam I hope your weekend was great too. I do enjoy my job...just not wild about nights. It throws off my sleeping and exercise.

Carole--Sounds like you have a great plan ahead for your races! I can't wait to hear how your training goes and how the races go! I think it is great that your DH will be your cheerleader! I am very lucky that my DBF is very supportive of my running and is always cheering me on!

Feeling so much better today. Yesterday I went to the gym and was having difficulty walking at 3.8. So tired. Today I could do 4.1. Even went for a walk tonight with DH and Maggie, my dog to try out the Garmin. Haven't figured it out yet. It was throwing wild numbers out that made no sense. So nice to walk outside. Theres a whole world out there thats so much more interesting than the TM. My dog is going to be getting very fit this year!

Sounds like you have a good BF Laurie. It really helps getting support from partners.

you are right Carole--I do have a really great BF!!! He is always there supporting me in everything I do, and he has no idea sometimes how much that means to me!

Glad to hear you are feeling better today and were able to get outside. Nothing beats running outside. The TM just doesn't do it for me....I dread my workouts when I know I have to hit the TM, when I know I can run outside, I am always so psyched to get out for my workout. Spring cannot arrive soon enough!!
