Can any one tell me what is in walking distance of the Radisson on Cocoa Beach. I was planning on renting a car but have decided to surprise my family with a stetch limo instead. I got the $99 deal for the 1 bedroom suite so I figured I would go for it. Also, it's the only property to offer shuttle service to the terminal. If I chose another hotel in the area what would be my options for getting to the terminal? I want to stay some place that has shops and restaurants near by. Also, can any one tell me if there is local bus service available to take you to the beach? Sorry for all the questions.:D
Thanks
Paula

Hi! I can't answer all of your questions, but I can tell you that there is a McDonalds across a pretty busy street and right next door to the Radisson there is a very nice italian rest/pizza place and a subway. Cocoa beach shops and alot of other dining options would not be in walking distance. Maybe the Radisson could tell you about buses or other transportaions options. The limo sounds great! Have fun!

We stayed at the Radisson in December and were disappointed that the only thing within walking distance is a pizza place (there may have been a subway also, but I would never cross that street to get to McDs.) We had to drive everywhere - to see the beach, to got to Ron Jon's for snorkling supplies, to the market to buy some soda for the cruise, etc. The hotel had a pool but it was too cold to swim.

For our next cruise I have booked Comfort Inn and suites - a suite with an ocean view is about $100 (when we booked) and they have AAA and government rates that make it even better. It is across a quiet street from the beach, across from Ron Jon's to the one side, and across from a Winn Dixie supermarket to the other side. A perfect set up for us, since we are also taking a limo from the airport.

We will take a taxi to the port the next morning.

slindamood,
Thanks for the information. I have to re-think my plan of action now. Can a taxi cab really carry 4pp and all the luggage? I thought i new what I was going to do but now I am confused!:o
I have to go try to sort all this out now.
Thanks again

Of course, what works for us may not work for others. Some people love the Radisson, but we are walkers and like to explore the neighborhood where we stay. Even with a car, we do not like to be dependent on it for everything.

I noticed several "van" type taxis waiting at the port when we disembarked. They had local decals, and were not reserved. I would think that if you call a local taxi they would have a van to send on request with all of the people using taxis around there for cruises. There are 3 of us, and I am sure we will have lots of luggage - I was planning on reserving a van taxi the day before - maybe I had better make sure that they have one - I will call well in advance.

There's a greek restaurant next door that also serves breakfast. There's a pizza/pasta restaurant next door. There's a mini-golf course/family amusement center about a block away. And there's a convenience store about a block further on.

slindamood,
When are you going? I am going in September. Maybe you could fill me in on what you find if you are traveling before that. I will certainly be happy to do the same for you if I am going before you.
Dave,
Thanks for the info.
I am still not sure what to do. I did reserve a room at the comfort suites for 116.00+tax. This is for there suite. I thought I got a pretty good deal. Now I just need to decide on which hotel.
