I just read a post that mentioned it's 1.3 miles around the WS Lagoon and about 1/4 mile from the entrance of Soarin' to the boarding area. Anyone else have any distance figures?

I always think about bringing a pedometer, but I never remember. I always come back from Disney a little lighter (just like my wallet!), but I never really thought about the numbers that much. :confused3

i don't have any numbers for you. but i've wondered the same thing before too. i would love to hear from someone who DID wear a pedometer.....

If you are looking to figure out the distances before you get there you can download Google Earth (for free) and use the path tool to calculate the distance. The tool is available from the tools menu by selecting ruler and changing from line to path.

IIRC, I have mapped out the distance around the WS (and worn a GPS through parts of the parks), and the distance around the WS is just barely over a mile - like 1.05 or something, and that is sticking pretty close to the outside. But, if you factor in dodging around people, browsing, and the general inaccuracy of most pedometers, seeing a 1.3 measurement is not outside the realm of possibility.

I will be wearing my pedometer this trip. I always wonder how many miles I walk or "dodge"...My dil and I will be wearing two different types so will be interesting to find out. I walk a few miles a day after lunch. and it always seems like Disney is more walking...

I read somewhere (a long time ago), that a full day in the parks on your feet is equivalent to 5-7 miles.

Well, one year I DID wear a pedometer! Our normal routine is parks in the am, back to the resort for mid-day break (I have spinal problems and have to get off my feet for a while) and back to the parks in late afternoon til 8 or 9pm. We don't do commando and we take lots of breaks.

I averaged 8 miles a day. One day at Epcot I did 12 miles. But with my "style" of touring, I thought 8 was pretty good.

We've worn pedometers a couple of times and the avg. is between 6 - 8 miles a day. But Epcot is always higher sometimes up to 12 miles. Now I know how we can eat all of that food and still not gain weight. :rotfl2:

My DW wore hers on our last trip (Dec '09), and we were averaging 11 miles a day.

I wore one on a trip to Italy, and we averaged about 12 miles a day...and it felt like it! It doesn't feel like nearly that much at Disney. Guess it's true about time (and miles!) flying when you're having fun!!

I've had days that were about 7 miles to over 20. Yep, over 20 when my mom was 70. Now at 72, she'd probably have me doing a marathon (26.2). Geez.......

The over 20 days started with us doing the 5K (3.1 miles) at AK. Ended after midnight. Where she gets that energy is anyone's guess.

We take several breaks during touring so my grandparents (late 60s/early 70s) can rest. What does my gramma do? Finds the nearest gift shop to walk around until we're ready to move on to the next thing. :rotfl:

We should get them together. I am always wanting/needing a nap. She's saying, "Where to now?" She'll tour til after midnight and be up before 7 and is ready for a new day and new park. Her record on ToT is 11 times in a row. She begged for and even 12 but I knew she'd then beg for a baker's dozen. ugh!! ;)

It's ToT!! Ya gotta hit 13!! ;)

Pshh... I wish I lost weight at WDW. I generally gain about 10 pounds with all the eating and lack of exercise.

But then, at home I typically eat healthy including no soda, no mixed drinks, almost no beef or pork, no cheese, no salt, lots of vegetables, etc. and I run on about 16-20 miles per week and go to the gym everyday. Not to mention I walk all over at home.

At WDW, I pig out. Lots of soda, sugar, grease... and almost all of my entrees for dinner will be some form of steak. And I walk about the same as I do at home and it's rare that I exercise at WDW.

No matter where we are, as long as I can remember, my grampa was up at 4:30 in the morning, walking the grounds of our hotel, then off to the gym...all before any of us ever thought of waking up. :lmao: While the rest of us are so excited to be at Disney and hit DTD on our first day, he's looking for the gym.
