My dd (3) just got casts on both of her feet and they are not waterproof. Does anyone know where I can find a small enough size walking boot type thing or an alternative so the bottoms don't get wet or horribly dirty when walking outside? The doctor said a big sock, which is fine......for inside.

let me check. I know a little girl at my daughter's school has a cast and she has a tiny boot for it.. so I know they make them!

I found some online but do you have a prosthetic place near you? They should have them and you should be able to size them for you.

I'm just wondering how much walking she's really going to be doing? With both her feet in casts, i don't see it being much. I'd probably just plan on getting an umbrella stroller and have her in that for most of your outside trips.. then let her walk inside the house so that her muscles don't atrophy too bad.

When younger dd broke her leg (at 4 yrs old), for the last couple weeks of being in the cast she was allowed to walk on it, but it was so hard for her to be able to do that, I just kept her in the stroller.

Not sure why she's in casts, but are they recommending she stay off of them as much as possible? or walk on them as much as possible?

A cheap alternative to a walking boot would be to velcro a pair of flip-flops to the cast. Just cut the straps off, and use the sole. Can cut slits through the sole to wrap the velcro around.

She has to wear them for a month and trick or treating falls in there and a bunch of other halloween stuff so she'll def. be walking...not to mention she goes to nursery school. She has them for her toe walking to stretch her muscles, so it's okay that she is walking. She is wobbly...she just got them today, but she is being a trooper!

Thanks for the flip flop idea!
