Walking a reservation

:confused3 Do what you want to... it just is not ever necessary to call day-by day any more. You could not have lost your beloved THV, no matter what the season was.

Just to save you some work... you NEVER have to call daily in this situation. For a 10 day reservation, just call ONCE on any of the third through sixth days after you made the original 7 day reservation. You are GUARANTEED to get the extra days.

(Lets say you called on January 1 and reserved seven nights, December 1-8. Nobody can stake a claim for that room until you check out - starting a new reservation on January 8 with the 11-month window. As long as you call back once between January 4-7, you cannot lose that extension.)

For us veterans, day-by-day calling was necessary at one time. It changed when they switched the 11-month window based on check-in day instead of checkout day. BTW - walking only works for the 11-month window reservations.

This is great advice for the novice walker! Take it from one who has done this exactly as the PP explained.....it works!!!!!

We called today at 9, we had no problem getting the THV for our April vacation week. All that worrying for nothing.

Great News! I know it's stressful thinking about an upcoming reservation that you need to make. I have one coming up myself soon. ;)

Congrats!! I was on the phone w/MS today at 9 am, too. Fellow Mass-er booking April school vacation week. We'll be at BLT in a 1 BR standard view, same as this year. I am so glad Easter is earlier in April in 2012. The crowds this year were horrible! :headache:

Disney Doc is right on target. There is no need to call every day once you make the first reservation. There is no advantage to it at all.

We are going to try walking a reserv in Jan. For two years in a row calling at 9am at the exact 11mo window for our Christmas trip we have not been able to get a standard room for BLT. In both cases all standard were gone already... So it should be interesting...

What dates and what room type have you tried for? I booked a 1 BR standard view for December 21-27 for this year at 11 months (9 am) with no problem at all.

standard studio at BLT for Dec24-7. We generally are able to get a LV studio but we are trying to conserve points so we can go twice a year... Makes you a little miffed when you can't get a room and you are calling at the exact 11mo window to the minute... So since everybody else is playing the game we will have too also. :)

We just returned from the Boardwalk a few days ago. We decided we wanted April school vacation week as well and I called at 9am and got a two bedroom villa and a studio at BWV without a problem. I am a Mass-er too. Now at the 7 month mark I want to change the studio to another two bedroom but that could be a problem. Love the BWV the best. I am not sure what the "walk in" reservation is about.
