Walkin' Yes Indeed I'm Walking...All Over The Parks????

Today I got in about 4.5 miles walking through DHS and over to crescent lake and back. For those curious, the walk around crescent lake is about 1.25 miles. Perhaps less as I did walk through the lobbies of the Yacht and Beach club.

In addition to that, I walked to the Dolphin (not included in the 1.25 mile calculation) for lunch at Dolphin Fountain. It was a beautiful day for a walk. :cool1:

Another long walk day today. Weather was absolutely beautiful. Walked all the way from parking to the MK via the Poly and GF. Walked around the MK through the left side of Main Street, Adventure Land, Fantasy Land, Toontown, Tomorrowland and back down Main Street.

Considered taking a boat over to Wilderness Lodge for another of those great burgers at Geyser Point but instead walked to the Contemporary intending to try the burger at Steakhouse 71. But when I looked at the menu I didn't think it was what I was after right then. Instead when upstairs to Contempo Cafe for chicken fingers & fries. Not great but edible.

At that point the monorail was down for some reason so I walked back to the MK and took the ferry back to TTC. Checked my mileage at the car and it was 5.5 miles for the day.

Yesterday I got in about 5.5 miles walking around property. Started out in the MK parking lot and walked to the MK via the Poly & GF. Stopped in the Poly lobby to check on the merchandise in the shop. Then walked along the shore past the Poly Tower, Wedding Pavilion, and VGF before going into the GF to check out the shop there. Didn't by anything though.

From the GF I walked to the MK (total of over 2 miles to there) and entered the park. Basically walked the perimeter of the attractions starting in Tomorrowland and counter clockwise toward Adventureland. Shopped my way down Main Street and exited to the boat dock.

Took the WL boat so I could get a great burger at Geyser Point. Then walked around the resort taking a few pictures before boarding a bus to Epcot. Discovered that the bus stop at Epcot is quite a walk away from the security check and turnstiles. My legs were feeling the strain by now. Still I entered Epcot and walked around what used to be called Future World taking pictures of some of the Flow & Garden displays before exiting the park at getting on the monorail back to TTC. From there I walked out to the car.

Didn't go very fast during all of this but I certainly enjoyed the atmosphere while getting my walk on.

DH & I have been going to Disney since they opened in 1971. We haven't been every year, usually a skip of 1-3 years in between. We used to go with our children, and later just ourselves, from opening to closing, but the last several years (skipped Covid years) we go for rope drop but leave the parks by dinner time - sometimes stay late for fireworks though.
We are pretty active and keep our weights down which helps us tremendously. We love going during Flower & Garden and have a trip planned May 1. We usually walk 8-10 miles a day there. We are 78 & 79 years.

They are easy, BSH. `You can make them go very slow or slightly fast. They stop on a dime if you let go of the throttle lever. I have always used Buena Vista Rentals, excellent service. Practice a bit at your local grocery store or big box store like a Home Depot. YOu can do it.
That has been my experience as well. Even before I needed one myself I observed a lot of situations where people were hit by the scooters, except it was the other way around. The people hit the scooters and then blamed the person on the scooter. People get engrossed in the surroundings and don't pay attention. So many times I have witnessed people walking along and all of a sudden stopping in their tracks or stepping to the side to get around without looking to see if anyone was already in that path., Yes, I did witness a few very self-involved people that acted badly on the scooters but I never witnessed anyone even close to intentionally or carelessly running into someone.

My secret was the same one I have used all my adult life called defensive driving. I always try and leave enough room in front and on the sides to not have any contact with anyone. The only real downside is that you have to spend a large part of the day butt level with the rest of humanity. When I went there and Universal in 2019 the scooter was a godsend. I could once again enjoy my day pain free.
