5th Person Sleeper Rooms New Rules 2026 ?

Just saw a Disney Travel Agent say that in 2026 Disney only wants groups of FIVE booking POR or CBR 5th sleeper rooms. It will not be an option to book without 5 guests??? She suggested you can have a Travel Agent request that room but zero guarantee (not sure if that was just a plug to push you to TA). I just tried several different weeks with 2 A and 2 C, and no 5th Sleeper rooms were available.

Will be an interesting scenario to follow as I saw lots of responses on how they will be untruthful to get them. And families of 5 were saying finally those rooms won't get scooped up and unavailable to those who need them.

I was wondering when they were going to do this. I too just made multiple searches with 2A and 2C, zero 5th sleeper rooms showed as bookable. Change search to 2A and 3C, low and behold 5th sleepers bookable for same dates.

I mean I know all the reasons why people want this room ... that only have 3 or 4 but the purpose of them was for those families with 3 children (one small) to fit in one room.

I also read that Ft Wilderness is now dropping camp sites from 10 to 8 guests .... my guess is due to the free child's dining plan ... imagine 2 families registered on one campsite getting free dining for 6 kids.

Feel like while we might see more discounts and special offers we might see more tightening of some holes in their system. I certainly understand.

Sometimes I travel with my sister and some combination of her kids (2 adult boys and a 16 year old girl).

Just because you can physically fit X number of people in X amount of spaces, doesn't mean those people want to sleep in the same bed together. If Disney starts dictating sleeping arrangements, we may resort to booking multiple rooms off site for less than what Disney charges for one room.

I understand what you are saying but I don't see it as Disney dictating sleeping arrangements. Just like there are lots of folks who say they want to sleep their five in a room with two beds with a sleeping bag or family of 3/4 that will share a king bed ~ Disney does not allow it. Just like you could easily sleep 8 in an AoA suite with blow up mattress but Disney does not allow it. As a family of five and mixed genders we often have to adjust our bookings to make it work, under the hotel rules. AND yes sometimes we end up offsite because we can't make it work on property, it is nice that there are so many options around Disney property.

Great example. We only go with groups and trying to get cabins right together can be hard because we can only book certain cabins based on each party size. Cruises/hotels are trying to maximize the beds they are offering to meet income projections AND having those rooms that hold the bigger party available to them.

Once Disney is that week out when room assignments happen they can have a list of requests and if one is available great. But I do get some won't/can't take the chance and will have to book otherwise. And at Disney it might mean they book a suite of some kind, meaning more income for Disney.

I'm not talking about squeezing more people into a room than what the room allows for (such as 5 people in a room with 2 queen beds). Disney is actually getting more money for the room when I put 4 adults in the room for 5 since they charge extra for each adult over 2.

Yes. At a certain point before the cruise they will usually open up those rooms to anyone, but I'm not sure what the cut-off is.

OTOH, Celebrity at least is restricting solo cruisers on some routes on Edge-Class ships to the solo cabins OR the more expensive suites. So as long as Disney doesn't start blocking solos out, I have no problem with it. (I'd be fine if they restricted solos to King rooms as long as where it's a non-bookable category (Values, some Deluxes) it becomes bookable for solos.

I feel like this is more about holding back these rooms for families of 5. The bunk itself is meant for a child, so my guess their demographic they are looking at is families with younger children.

I remember when they first created these rooms they were not a bookable category. It seemed they automatically put families of 5 in them and if you didn't have 5 it was really hard to get, request only. I just see them going back to this.

As far as a room with 4 adults, the extra adult charge is often explained as needing "extra" amenities like towels, water, breakfast etc .. which honestly makes no sense to base just on age. I've seen it stated that they would rather another room be booked for the other adults. For Disney they probably rather 2 rooms for 4 adults and leave these for families with children. And if occupancy is down (hence lots of discounts) trying to force larger older groups to two rooms works for Disney $$. I don't think the single guest would be an issue at all as you are still paying the same price for a room as a group of 4, yet use less water, towels etc.

Over at POR isn't everything preferred in Alligator Bayou and aren't all rooms in AB 5th or 3rd sleepers?

Over at CBR I feel like there are far more rooms with that 5th sleeper than there are rooms without it. Maybe at least 60% have a 5th sleeper. I find it hard to believe that Disney would block a family of 2, 3 or 4 from booking all those 5th sleeper rooms. Especially the 5th sleepers that are NOT in Trinidad section. Those 5th sleeper pull down beds are so small. Even your average height teen probably couldn't comfortable sleep on it, let alone a 5ft adult.

I booked (but didn't end up staying) a 5th Sleeper at POR once as a solo person only because it was the least expensive option available. I didn't want a 5th sleeper and if I had kept the reservation I'd have talked to the front desk at check-in about giving my 5th sleeper up to someone to take a King Room or Preferred Room at the same rate.

We just booked a 5th sleeper at POR for September 2025 - its just my 7yr old daughter and I but that was the only thing available for our dates and desired rate. I will be putting in a request or note that they can certainly move us to a smaller room if needed - we definitely don't need all that space. Really wanted to stay in the mansion section so hopefully they do change it as 5th sleepers are only in Alligator Bayou...

I think because of the renovations going on the website is a bit of a mess. You can see pictures of both the AB Preferred AND Mansions Preferred under the same category (Preferred Room). Perhaps with the renovations they are not letting Preferred be bookable in a specific category. But within that are Bunks. Preferred Location has no room pics but the front pic is Mansions and there is no Bunk so perhaps those will only be in Mansions.

Also Disney never updates room photos during a renovation, they will do it after it is complete. This avoids a guest getting an unrenovated room and being upset it is not as shown on website.

This is disappointing if true. We are a family of 4 but we prefer 5th sleepers because we have opposite gender teenage kids. They aren't going to sleep in the same bed.

Will a family of 5 with one of them being under 3 count? Because if so I can see people creating a "ghost" 2 year old to get past this. The age wouldn't even matter if it wasn't a package with tickets.

Speaking of 5th sleepers at CBB, I cannot find a single date in 2026 that shows any availability. We want 9 nights in May, and every combination with 2 adults and 3 children shows zero availability. I can’t believe they’d already be sold out so far in advance since we have booked those rooms before without issue. Can anyone shed light on this?

It looks like it breaks in 2026 at CBR, any date before 2026 seems to have Standard, and Water or Pool View 5th Sleeper but just like you nothing available in 2026. You have to chose a Preferred Room, and they don't show any availability in 2026.
