We never found any reasonable rent units that could compete with buying motorola FRS units from Wallmart. Although they cant be used in the UK we've taken them back on subsequent visits and got great usage from them - about £20 (UKP) plus batteries. We found the range fine for in-park use and never had a problem finding a quiet channel.

They're packed and ready to got - we leave for Orlando on Friday.

Hurrah !

I was about to ask what teenagers don't have cell phones till I realized you are from the UK. Guess they are not as spoiled there! I recommend buying them from Walmart too or any other local store versus renting. You can always ebay them after if you won't use them again!

It also makes me mad:sick: Too see teenagers on thier CELL.I restrict my DD17-DS14 from even taking it with them.Doesn't always work. But keeping in touch is inportant too us now adays. But we still have FRM (familly radio monitors) radios I need too pull out of the closet and put batts in them

Cell phones have made a big difference. A few years back we found the FRS channels tended to be busy although you could normally hunt around and find a quiet channel. Last year there seemed to be very few people using them.

Battery usage of the Motorola's is pretty good. Also for kids that are maybe too young for mobile phones they are also *really* good fun. Unlimited usage without running up any call charges.

I would definitely suggest something to keep in contact with, obviously your choices are limited coming from overseas but I know I always feel safer letting my son and best friends daughter-both 13- go to a couple of coaster knowing I can get a hold of them or they us. With more and more people using cell phones and not walkie talkies at the parks will it be easier to find a channel without as much chatter?
