Hi Guys!
Can you believe that in just a few days most of us will be smiling in the Florida sun?!
I'm looking at this in two ways -- I really, really want to not be swept and finish my event, so that's important. This is also a great get-a-way for us -- no one is making us do this, it is a vacation! I am going to do my best, and I am going to have fun. Worst case scenario -- it's not like I can't try again next year, or at another time. There is no reason to dread this, it's all good.
So, here's another question -- I have an i-pod shuffle, which I am planning to wear during the race. Is there any reason I should reconsider? I read that headphones aren't allowed, but I've gathered that's not exactly enforced...and I don't plan to have it so loud that I can't hear a conversation, just as a background to help keep me on pace.
bekkiz -- I think your dh is right, the adrenaline from the real event will carry you farther faster. I am nervous, too, but I am determined that I am going to have a good time. This is the happiest place on earth, how can we not?!
Nancy -- I think it's great that you are feeling good and calm. This is really a case of your best being your best. At this race, at this time, on this day, you will do the best you can, as will we all.
Kim -- We did 5 miles Saturday, our last "long" walk before we go. We're just doing 30 minutes today and Wednesday. I can't believe after thinking about and planning for this for almost a year, it's time to go!
Larah -- We'll be looking for you Friday! I think the WISH meet is just the encouragement we all need!
Sandy -- I've been checking our weather, too, and finally no snow or yucky stuff forecasted. I can't wait to leave the tarmac!
Denise -- I'll be walking or "wogging" most if not all the time, too. I do think that all the training, off and on, for a year, will pay off for me. I've learned I could go further and faster than I thought I could, and I think that will really help around mile six or so. Our weather should be great for flying, so I think we're going to do great!
Robert and Linda -- Wow, you have had quite a few days! You definitely deserve a trip to the Florida sunshine. I hope your trip out is without incident!
Susie -- I am so sorry for your loss. We have two almost 15-yr. old kitties, and we dread that day. I'm sure you will cherish your happy memories, and all the special times you shared.
Bill-- Your post made me laugh out loud

Why are we so surprised the Celtics are good this year?! In any case, they are very entertaining, and it's a great date for me and dh. And, you and I will be doing the same thing Saturday night, in different places. I'm sending all my positive energy back to Foxborough!
Stacey -- Your body is ready for race day, think how easily you will spring up when you need to! I will be struggling to come to consciousness...
Connie -- I'm sorry I won't get to meet you, but I'll sure take some of that pixie dust!
Eva and Michelle -- We'll see you soon! We can do this!
Dave -- Can we plan on some sort of "unofficial" walkers meet at Pop at 4:00? You are undoubtedly the ringleader...
Stacey -- Thanks for the great idea about the throwaway sweatshirt. I found a Hanes zippered hoodie at a discount store for $4!
Jeanne -- Thanks for asking the question about what to eat.

It's something I was wondering as well. I think we plan on a lighter pasta meal Friday afternoon, and a banana and Kashi bar before the race. We don't have reservations Thursday night, so I guess we'll be hitting the pasta bar in the food court at POR!
And
Everyone Else -- I hope you are enjoying your taper, or enjoying your regular walks. To quote the ever-present (at least in my house) Hannah Montana, "Life's what you make it so let's make it rock!"
