Walkers Wanna Compare Notes??

Kathy--- Sorry about your knee problem. I had that several weeks ago and it was worse when I did the TM on my short walks. I did ask my oncologist who know nothing about knees to look at when I had my 6 month check up. :rotfl2: His said I probably have arthritis which it what my diagnosis is also. So I just iced and took Advil and it seems better. I wouldn't recommend following an oncologist advise for knee pain, but that worked for me.

Dave--- Great link. This is prime allergy season with all those leaves falling.

I hope Kim and my friend Beth had good weather for their marathon in Toronoto.

Yesterday I did 11 miles on the rail trail. I had to really watch were I was walking because of all the walnuts all over the trail in certain spots. I had to make some modifications to Bingham's program because of my half marathon in 2 weeks so most people wouldn't be doing that far yet. My legsdid feel to bad, but I came home and put my summer decorations away and got out all the fall and Halloween stuff. That meant alot of going up and down the attic steps so by last evening my legs were really tired. Today is a rest day.

DS#1 is home to visit so hopefully the men will go golfing and I can have the house to myself.

Nancy

I have been telling Connie that I really don't want to DO a half or full in WDW because the thought of all those people crammed together is hideous to me, but I want to be ABLE to do a half or full at WDW! LOL! Goals, we all have to have them!

Kathy, the good news is that the worst of the crowding is over pretty quickly, then you just "have company" -- Good for you for getting out and doing those miles!

Happy Monday:

I did nothing yesterday. My wrist still hurts but my legs are fine so I should have gone out. Now I usually take Monday off as I start work at 7 am on Mondays but I'll have to do something tonight.

I feel more positive today so I'll make sure to do a decent workout tonight. I have tomorrow off for hair-do so that will be one of my days off this week.

Well it's late for me so I'll leave you all Have a good one.

Feel better Denise before I have to do something silly to cheer you up. And we sure don't want me being silly.:rolleyes1

Nancy Pixie dust for your knee.:wizard:

This has been a hard year for a lot of us on here. I can't complain since I'm in pretty good shape but my pretty lady has had a time of it as I know many of you have.

Since I'm an old retired military man I have a strong sense of 'team'. In the military when one of our team is hurt and injured we pamper, support and respect them. We are kind to our injured because the next one could be us. That's kinda how it is on our WISH Team also. We don't stop being team mates just because we are sick or hurt or injured. So if you are feeling puny keep on posting, so the rest of us will still feel like it's ok for us to post when we aren't getting our steps in. Does this make any sense?

Today should be good for us, Erica is feeling much better today so we can go walking together, we are thinking 6 to 8 miles. I have to drop my Jeep off for repairs while we are walking. Darn what a horrible waste 0f Disney money.

Is everyone aware that today means ToT IS THIS MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have an awesome day dear friends.:grouphug:

Dave:hippie:

Dave you are getting your ladies mixed up again, it is Kathy who has the current knee problems.

Denise-- I had to go back and read what happened to your wrist. Sounds like you had a nasty fall.

Still waiting to here how Kim did. I did get an email from Beth that she did complete the full. That will inspire me that I can do it also. She can fill everyone in on the details.

This is a busy month only 17 days before I leave for WDW and then the ToT. However, I have got to get that half done before I go.

Have a great day everyone.

Nancy

Nancy, isn't that every mans' dream to have so many beautiful women to talk to that you get confused?:cloud9: If y'all make my head spin sometimes please just bare with me, a guy can only be so strong.

My lady and I did 6 miles while Midas was putting a new starter on my Jeep. We had the most perfect morning for walking.

Have an awesome day.

Back from Boston....

The good news is I walked ....and walked....and walked. The bad news is I ate....and ate....and ate! When I die and go to heaven, I hope it's just like the North end of Boston.......with back-to-back restaurants, pastry shops and fresh bread on every street. What was really bad was that since we an organized dinner function every evening, we ended up having Italian every day for LUNCH! I don't even want to think about the calories. Of course we always had to have wine with the meal and then a few hours later some cappucino and pastry. I was really bad! And to make it even worse, we brought stuff home! Right now, I am petrified of getting on the scale....:scared1:

Boston is such a lovely pedestrian friendly city and the weather was beautiful. It was actually even much warmer than I expected (high 80's)
We took the 294 steps to the top of the Bunker hill monument and I have to admit it was much tougher than I thought it would be. (Of course, the big portion of chicken parmigiana I had just consumed probably didn't help much either)
Time to start thinking about our next trip......which will be Tower of Terror! I'm not even going to put the suitcases away; instead I'll start packing again.
I got my WISH shirts, so that's the first thing going in the luggage. Getting very excited about meeting everyone!

Speaking of WISH shirts, I don't know what I was thinking when I ordered the tank style one. In theory it was a good idea, but when I tried it on, it just made me wince and look away....(Yes, THAT bad!) So if anyone needs an extra tank (size Large) maybe we can arrange something.

Wendy: good to see you posting again. If you get a chance, please post the photo of your medals once more. I want my husband to see how nice they look hanging like that.

Beth: Congrats on completing the full!

Welcome back Jeanne. I believe it is safer to walk in Boston than it is to drive. Looks like you had a wonderful time doing my favorite things sightseeing, eating and drinking. You can't go wrong with that combination. I bet you will be packed for ToT before me. I didn't put my suitcase away from Williamsburg so at least I have that close. Did you get to meet up with Jen? I didn't try my WISH shirts on yet. Now you are scaring me about the sleeveless.

Dave-- Don't you just hate cars, you have to have them but the upkeep is a killer money wise. Good job on your 6 milers. Isn't the weather great for walking?

Time to head home soon.

Nancy

Nancy: My sleeveless shirt is fine, it's the tank I can't wear. (I broke down and ordered both.) In fact, I will probably wear the sleeveless one in January.

Jeanne, you darlin are EVIL! Making me ride ToT. Grrrrrr! You know there is no way I'd miss that. I'll be hurling all over the TnT cuties but you know you got me.:sad2:

Last time I went to Boston I had quite and adventure in a place called the Combat Zone.:rolleyes1

Kathy, sorry I gave Nancy the Pixi Dust I'd meant for your knee, more for you.:wizard:

Kim that was an awesome time on the half!!!:cheer2:

Have a great evening Team.:flower3:

Dave:hippie:

Hi, everyone!

I did it!!!! I finally did 4 miles in less than 15 mpm!!!!   As a matter of fact, it was 14:45 mpm!!! It may not happen again for a while, but it happened this evening after work. I have decided that my knee has a dr phobia because as soon as I make a dr appt, it starts feeling better. Either that or it was the pixie dust and good WISHes from all of you! :grouphug: It started feeling better Friday evening and I did 8 miles on Saturday with only minor twinges. Today, no pain whatsoever. I think I'll just keep making dr appts......

Kim - your time must be posted on another thread that I don't read, but I hear congrats are in order! You go, girl!

Jeanne - your trip to Boston sounds mah-velous! I have never been there. I don't usually want to visit cities, but Boston is an exception. I'd like to visit there sometime. Seems like I have many more places that I want to visit than I have time or money to get to!

Denise - I hope you're feeling better. Sounds like you're doing a little better, at least. Seems like when you take a fall, it just shakes you up all over, not just the parts that got hurt. You do so much! I hope you're back to your activities soon!

Dave - I not only realize that we're in October and ToT month, I made sure all my co-workers realize it too! I am the trainer for my office, and I currently am sharing office space with 3 trainees. I came in this morning and said, "Do you know what this is? This is October! And do you know what October is? October is VACATION month!" :woohoo: Of course, I'm going to be gone nearly half of November, too, but I am starting my vacation in OCTOBER!!!!!

Well, off to the shower to wash away the sweat from my truly wonderful walk this evening!!

Kathy

Hey there everyone, sorry I am so far behind on this thread. I have subscribed to so many threads I forget where I have gone and where I have missed:guilty:

Thank you all for the congrats, feel great except for the black toes, I have 2 bad ones and 1 that isn't too bad.....never had these before not sure why I got them but the last 5K was really hard and my form wasn't so great so I don't know if I did something there.

I try and get back and read all the posts I missed, but after being off work yesterday I am sure my office will be a bunch of stacks of files so not sure how much net time I will have.

I think DH and I are back to training tonight, maybe just a soft 3K we actually, accidently walked 2K yesterday but we just strolled.

OK off to get ready for work, have a awesome day all

Kim

Hi Everybody!

I did an hour walking on the TM last night, and I'll have 1.5 hrs. tonight for The Biggest Loser. All this walking is paying off, even if it's only in my head, I feel lighter!:cool1:

I ended up taking Sunday off. I really wanted to walk, but my body just seemd to say "no".

Kim:woohoo: Congratulations! What a wonderful accomplishment!

Kathy In knew you would reach your goal! :thumbsup2 Someday I hope to report that I've made it under 15 minutes..you are proof positive that if you work on a goal you can achieve it!

DaveHangin' out in the combat zone, huh?! That's a case of what happens in Boston, stays in Boston...;)

JeanneI love the North End! I also rarely visit unless we are taking company along the Freedom Trail. Just the thought of Mike's Pastry:love: ...You are indeed brave to climb the Bunker Hill monument. It's pretty impressive for a battle we lost, isn't it?:rotfl:

NancyWhen we first moved to Boston, I announced to dh that I was not going to be driving:scared1: ...practicality got in the way and now I will go downtown, but I prefer the subway.

DeniseI hope you're feeling better. :grouphug:

BillShouldn't that speedo be blue with a Patriot head?! I love football season!:yay: :cheer2:

Wishing everyone great walks and gorgeous weather!
Maria

Hi everyone:

I did go back to the track last night and was able to walk and jog and not fall down. My left wrist is still tender but other than that I’m fine. So thankful that my legs didn’t get hurt.

Tonight I have a hair appt so will use the TM when I get home as it is now getting a bit dark by the time I’m into my walk.

Last night was great there was a JV football game going on while we were on the track so they had the lights on.

All this talk of Boston and I’ll be there on Sunday with my daughter and friends for a play. We plan on doing a bit of shopping, maybe a side trip to Chinatown and then if Mike’s is open stop there before heading home.

Pray for good weather. We’re not wearing jeans but we won’t be in ball gowns either.

Keep moving, one step at a time.

denise

Hello Pretty Princesses, Bill and Robert.

Does any one mind being called a pretty princess? I say it with up most respect. I haven't met any of you that are not wonderful warm hearted ladies.

My lady and I finally got a chance to put a two day training together. Our plan is for monday/tuesday to be target Goofy training. We did 6 yesterday and 12 today. We want to do this every week with the walks increasing to a final 10/22 three weeks before and start tapering.:yay:

We are going to Gattlinburg in the Smokies for a hill week a month before the Goofy. Hopefully it will not be snowing since Erica likes to walk in her Ecco sandals.:rolleyes1

I started a post on shoe selection and foot care. If anyone has any input please do. We have a lot of first time distance walkers/runners on here right now. A lot of times they don't know what questions to ask.

Denise, good news on feeling better.

Maria it's been long time since I was a rowdy in places like the Combat Zone. Actually I was thinking that was my last adventure in the bad section of a town but I had another memory south of the border after that. I've stayed out of trouble for 22 years since I met Erica.

Can't wait to meet you guys in about 23 days.:grouphug:

Dave:hippie:

Kathy: congrats on breaking the 15 minute barrier!!!!!

Denise: The pastries at Mike's are amazing but we also found a great place for good old-fashioned Italian bread. It's called Bova's and it's open 24 hours. As you exit Mike's make a right, then turn left at the corner and go down one long block. Bova's is at the end of that block across the street. We brought home some bread for us and our neighbors and the aroma was heavenly throughout our entire plane ride.

Okay, I am asking what ya'll think as independent, unbiased, by-standers....Kathy says she doesn't want to do another race in WDW (after ToT because it is different), but she WANTS to be ABLE to do one...at least in terms of minutes per mile. How many of you REALLY think she REALLY DOES want to do one??? ::yes::

I think if we only get to do one race with that sweet lady we will all be missing a chance to share memories with a wonderful friend. I do think when she has experienced WISH in full effect she will look at it a bit differently, I sure did.:cloud9:

Dave:hippie:

Jeanne--- I ended up with the long sleeve, short sleeve and the tank top. I'm glad I got the medium in the tank top since it is cut low. You are making my hungry with all that talk of fresh bread and pastries. I finally ordered the Yucatan sandles, I held out for another 20% discount at shoe buy. So ordered today will have them before I leave for WDW. $95 with free shipping I thought was really good.

Dave--- You can call me a Pretty Princess, but I probably look more like Princess Fiona from Shrek than Cinderella. If Erica is interested in the Ecco sandals I can forward the email to you. I don't think that deal is available to everyone as I get it in an email. If you have an entertainment book and register it, they always have 15% off on shoebuy.

Kathy--- Great job on breaking the 15 minute barrier. You will do great at ToT.

Connie--- Once Kathy meets us in person she will either be thrilled to do another race with us or think we are all crazy and want to be as far away from a WDW race as possible. :rotfl2:

In 2 weeks I should be on ME heading toward WDW. I am so anxious to be on vacation and to meet everyone.

Training this week.

Monday 4 miles, I did some speed work.

Tuesday 3 miles Missed pump class as cross trained by doing leaves with DH.

Hope to do stretch class tonight.

Have a great day everyone.

Nancy
