Hi Connie. Yes our pretty princesses are kicking butt this week. So proud of everyone.

Morning everyone. Congratulations to Jeanne and Wendy on the great jobs they both did on their half marathon on Sunday. Jeanne you were moving girlfriend. You would have been leaving my in your dust.

Kim---Good job on losing 5 pounds. I am back to losing those same 5 pounds before I go back to WDW the end of the month. It is a never ending battle.

Yesterday was a rest day and got another spa pedicure. Dave never did give me a foot massage after ToT.

Back to training today. Since it will be dark when I get home will be back on the TM.

Have a great day everyone.

Nancy

Good morning, everyone! And congrats to Kim on losing 5 pounds....amazing! Weight loss is not something within the realm of my existence.

I have to chuckle at the idea of going to PI after completing (er, make that attempting to complete) a full marathon.......My spirit is oh-so-willing, but I need my feet and legs to get me there. I'm not sure it's gonna happen. John and I were like Gimpy 1 and Gimpy 2 yesterday. The phone or doorbell would ring and we're both look at each other with puppy dog eyes that begged the other one to get it. If I make it to PI I'm going to look like I'm moonwalking in v-e-r-y slow motion.

Kim--I'm glad to see that your poor financial investments take precedence over our cyber-friendship. Oh well.

Shame on you!

Hi everyone, I’m back from Vacation and will get my butt in gear this week. It was quite restful with only 1 walk of 4 miles and one yesterday about 3 miles. I didn’t really know how tired I was until I relaxed and I was thankful I took the week off of work and most of the training too.

We had a ½ and full marathon here in town yesterday. Two of my Disney team from home who will be doing the ½ in January ran it.

Hope, my sons GF and Karen my co-worker. It was a very hilly course and they did very good. Hope had set the Disney sweep times on her phone and was under the time for each one which made her very relieved. Her finish time was 3:10. Karen who has been training with a local store, ran most of it and finished at 2:20 and both agreed that we too will be fine since Disney is mostly flat. The gave us hope that we could do this within the time limits and avoid the sweepers. I positioned myself at mile 9 after the worst of the hills with water, food, drugs and band aids and of course a camera. What a great time and I am so proud of Hope and felt a twinge of regret that I didn’t do it with her but I was suppose to be in Texas last week so I never signed up for it and in the end I was nervous that I would be less than enthused to do another in 2 months.

We went out last night to celebrate the finish and watch the Patriots win. All and all it was a great way to end the vacation.

I haven't made it to PI after the last 2 Goofy's. After aid station at R&C we usually take a nap and relax watching football while licking our wounds(serious icing). Plus Linda broke her toe before Goofy in 06 and couldn't do it and was hobbling. Linda got PF during the 07 Goofy at mile 13 of the marathon. She gutted out the finish but could hardly move.

Great idea but....

I extended my marathon weekend stay an extra day, so I plan to hit PI Sunday night primarily for the Adventurers' Club (have never been, although I've always wanted to go) and the Comedy Club. Of course, if WWDave is going to be at a club "cutting the rug," that might make it a "comedy" club as well. ;) (Does anyone know if he wears his Village People and/or Devo leathers when he's clubbing?:confused3 )

He only brings them out for special occasions. The ToT wasn't one but I have heard the Goofy is one. So bring your camera:scared1:

If Robert and Linda can't make it to PI, I would think that the odds are against me getting there. Jeanne, maybe we will just have to have the young adults push us in a wheelchair to PI.

I really would like to make it to PI but on a “regular” vacation to Disney we rarely make it to PI, we’re too pooped from all the days activities never mind 13.1 miles in a timed event. On top of that it’s Miranda’s birthday on the 13th so she wants to celebrate at Beaches and Cream with a Kitchen Sink then those that want to go to PI in our group can, those that are pooped can stroll or boat back to the Dolphin. I’m keeping my options open at the moment.

Thank you for the congrats everyone!!!!:grouphug:

Mike and I fully intend to be at PI Sunday night, but of course as long as we are up to it but I think we will be OK, since we are doing the 1/2 on the Sat and only volunteering on the Sunday so enough time for a nap and a shower and should be good to go.

We might try next year for PI. I just know what 39.3 miles does to your body and getting up at 2:30 am 2 days in a row. With my knee and shin issues, training is going to be worse than my other 2 Goofy's(and they weren't good either) so I am just not sure if I will be upright:confused3

OK, lets move the party to Robert and Lindas room....:thumbsup2

Sounds tempting, but Robert's scary when he is upright. I don't even want to think about when he isn't. He does make this endurance event stuff sound like a great hobby and a nice way to relax and enjoy life though.

After further reflection about Robert's summary of his last couple of WDW marathon weekends and plans for the upcoming one, I am thinking about maybe retiring from distance events (before I've even started) and taking up bull riding instead. Sounds safer.

Bill: It's the miles and not the years. I did over 80 marathons/Ultras in a 10 year period. One year did 10 races(6 50 mile+ and 4 50k's).

My friend is Helen Klein who still does marathons at 85! You can do it and it can be safe for some;)

Kim: Bring it on to the BW. We can watch the NFL playoffs(won't be able to get into the ESPN Club)

Oh, I should be fine then. I only have a little over 4 miles (6.5K for our Canadian friends) racked up so far in my illustrious racing career.

In 2006 we went dancing after the half. In 2007 we went to the hot tub soaked a while had dinner and went to bed. This year I think I can find the energy to go to the adventurers club and the comedy club, dancing is still up in the air.

I will absolutely find the energy to spend as much time as I can with our wonderful WISH Team mates. Life is short so spend it with good people.

Thanks Bill:grouphug:

No Robert, I don't think we stand a chance getting into ESPN, look forward to spending as much time as possible with all my WISH friends.

Dave, I always say I have plenty of time to sleep when I am dead, but.....depending on if the body co-operates...but I am hoping to be a lean mean fighting machine by then so I am hoping to be feeling great.

Still not sure what days we are coming in. We are currently booked from the Thursday till Monday......7AM flight....which means getting to the airport at 5AM...might not even go to bed. However, might change it to Friday to Tuesday.....just gotta keep watching those SW prices. We got a great price so I don't want to move it unless I get as good a price.

Well Erica and I started out on our 8 mile walk and it felt wonderful. The rain clouds looked threatening but the temp was perfect, 58 degrees and we were hitting on all cylinders.

Then at about 5 miles it started dumping rain, think waterfall at the river raft ride hard. Then the thunder and lightening started, so we packed it in and went to Red Lobster for lunch.

We were not to disapointed because we were walking very well and nothing hurt. We had a good brisk pace going.

We should be good to go on the 16 miler tomorrow. The temp is scheduled to drop since our Canadian friends have left the door open again. So tomorrow will be long sleeves and pants for walking.

Bill, there are a lot of gutzy athletes on here. Every event has it's challanges and rewards, but often it's trials and sacrafices as well. That's what keeps us coming back. It's a blessed person who can seek their limits and break through them. I'm in the presence of heroes on the WISH board and I don't take that lightly.

You have come a long way already and though your race was only 4 miles you broke through a few barriers of your own out there on the ToT course.
