Walkers Wanna Compare Notes??

Hi Everyone!

I sort of feel like I fell off the face of the Earth, but not really. I've been keeping up with my training, and I leave for a business trip Wednesday, and won't fly home until Sunday. I am taking my ipod and workout clothes, I know there's a gym at the hotel. I really want to keep up with my walking. I'm at 6 miles for my long walks, and I want to push up to 7 for next week.

Dave -- You are the ultimate Party Panda! I have no doubt you will close PI after the races!:woohoo:

Bill -- I have less than you! I've done one 5K...and I came in dead last!I guess we will be old pros after the Half! :thumbsup2

Kim -- I'm hoping we get to PI, too. This is our only visit w/out a minor, so it's our big chance!;) And Congrats on 5 lbs!

Denise -- That kitchen sink sounds mighty good! :goodvibes

Robert, Kathy, Jeanne -- I am officially ready to hang with the WISH buddies -- well, the WISH buddies who are a bit weathered, I suspect! :upsidedow

I ended up walking briskly for an hour this afternoon -- getting to a meeting and back. It wasn't timed, but I think it counts!

Hang in There and Have Great Walks!
Maria

Hi Maria, I have a question what does 150 club mean?

I wondered where you were hiding. When are you going to be at the January events and where are you staying.

Erica are there from the 6th till the 17th. We are staying at the Cribbian Beach Resort. We want to make sure we get to meet you.

Goofy Challanger Panda,:hippie: (who is hopping to earn the right to say Goofy Panda).

Bill, there are a lot of gutzy athletes on here. Every event has it's challanges and rewards, but often it's trials and sacrafices as well. That's what keeps us coming back. It's a blessed person who can seek their limits and break through them. I'm in the presence of heroes on the WISH board and I don't take that lightly.

You have come a long way already and though your race was only 4 miles you broke through a few barriers of your own out there on the ToT course.

I know I have said it before on various threads, and I hate to agree with you Dave, but yes, their are people on the WISH team that are truly inspiring and that is part of what helps me want to keep going.

As far as my four miles, the best part (other than meeting WISHers, starting a race and (eventually) finishing a race) was I got a really cool medal with an elevator I can play with. I have to say that DS, who is 6, was pretty impressed by it.

Hello everyone!

So i wanted to tell all of you I did a new routine today. I did Brikuma Yoga today, It is were you go into a HOT room (like florida in the dead of summer) and you work out with yoga positions. Omg I thought I was going to die. But the guy teaching the class told me I did really good. So I was happy. And then tonight I ran 6 miles! I am sure I am going to feel it tomorrow. wish me luck I am going to do the yoga and a smaller run tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing good.

Hockeychic..congrats on the 5lbs!!!thats awesome!

wdw4us....yes mom it will be my birthday present....KITCHEN SINK!!!

So Wendy dear, did you think the Pig was rolling or hilly?

Courious Panda:hippie:

The Pig (a favorite of mine) is semi-mountainous. (Perhaps a slight exaggeration.) There, it is not the course that I love, but the atmosphere, the great freebies, the race slogans, and the pig-wear. The course (particularly the marathon course) is pretty tough.

But then I train on a very flat treadmill. ;)

Morning everyone. Did 4 miles on TM last night. Tonight will be the TM again and pump class. I loved the extra hour sleep on Sat night, but I hate it being so dark early. I am ready for bed by 7pm.

Have a great day everyone.

Our bed starting looking good at about 8:45 last night. This time change has got us sleeping more also, darn the bad luck.

We are off on a 16 mile walk so you won't hear from us for a while. Here is a "YARC" funny for anyone who needs a smile:

Hillary Clinton goes to her doctor for a physical, only to find out that she's pregnant. She is furious... Here she's in the middle of her first run for president, and as Senator of New York this has happened to her. Hillary calls home. Bill answers the phone. She immediately starts screaming: 'How could you have let this happen? With all that's going on right now, you go and get me pregnant! How could you? I can't believe this! I just found out I am five weeks pregnant and it is all your fault! Your fault! Well, what have you got to say?' There is nothing but dead silence on the phone. She screams again, 'Did you hear me?' Finally she hears Bill's very, very quiet voice. In a barely audible whisper, he says, 'Who is this?'

Have an awesome day y'all.

Good morning team!!!!!

Just a quick drive by, I am on phones today so I will be back regularly....lol

Did the TM last night 4K, also did upper body weights, not feeling the pain yet this morning but I know it is coming:lmao:

Time change messed me up Sunday night but OK last night, only have a 3K on tap for tonight but hope to get outside for it, it was pouring rain here last night, but at least it wasn't snow, just not ready for that yet.

Kim

We got our 16 miles done today, 16 miles is a long long long way. It took just under 4 hours and was a crisp 41 degrees with a 10 mph wind.

We have a bunch of new people posting wanting advice. I want to start a thread for advice to new walkers. Will you guys help with it? Talk about your own training plans and ideas.

Tired Panda:hippie:

Great job Dave and Erica. With the double this week, you are more than ready for the Goofy. You still have 9 more weeks of training;)

Evil Erica has us scheduled for 9 monday and 18 on tuesday, just shoot me now. I was whipped today. Erica acts like she is fine but I know she has to be hurting to, just won't admit it.

Wow, I get sore just thinking about it! No wonder they call it Goofy.

I'll be willing to give advice, but I'm pretty much a novice myself. Just think, this time last year, the thought of any sort of a marathon event was the farthest thing from my mind.

Welcome to the dark side Darlin.pirate:

It's in your blood now and you have to know your limits, money can't buy that answer, the price is sweat and determination. You have evolved into much more than you were and you will never be satisfied with business as usual again. You are realizing there really is some part of you that's not completely tamed by civilization.

Girls rock don't you know that Dave.

No training for me yesterday as I got home late and didn't make it to the gym. Plan to do 4 miles on TM today.

Good morning All

Yes it is a bit crisp here in NH as well but I love it so much more than the Heat!!

Miranda and I did 3.5 miles at the track last night. Thankfully football practice was in session and the lights were on. I do have a battery operated light for my baseball cap but have not had to use it yet – we’ve been lucky. Tonight I have a massage for my neck –ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, can’t wait for that so it’s my night off and then home to do some sewing.

Two weeks from Friday we leave (Mark and I) for Disney, the kids join us on Sunday the 25th. We have mentally made promises to continue working out each day and stay on course with our training program. Yes getting up early after a night of dining at the California Grill will be a challenge, that may end up being one of our “rest” days.

Happy trails to all, Dave, you and Erica are too much all those miles….no thanks not for me.

Wow, quiet here today.......

I thought I would post a little family photo from last Sunday's event:

You can see John wasted no time getting the free beer! :rotfl2:

Great picture Jeanne. Jason towers over both of you. Love that John has the beer.

It appears no one else posted here today. I did 5 miles on TM last night. Doing 3 tonight and then pump class at least that is the plan.

Nancy

I did a whole very slow 1.6 miles. Still shin is bad and will be at PT for several more weeks at least trying to get better. This is going to be ugly. The knee pain(surgery next yr) is survivable but PT is concerned like me about the Goofy. Best case scenerio is healthy and totally undertrained which will put me completely back at his risk of doing this all over again in Jan:(

John has his priorities straight!
