Hi,

It is my 9 year old son's birthday on New Year's eve, and we are not able to get ADR's at the last minute. Has anyone tried to eat without ADRs on New Year's eve?

Thanks,
Susan

I am thinking that this is going to be next to impossible.....BUT anything is possible I guess....
How about at one of the resorts. Like Port Orleans Riverside...
I also remember reading one of these past years that the parks fill up and if they are really full they dont allow more in. SO wherever you want to be at, try to stay in that area.
Happy New Year to you and yours

I have been in the parks on NYE witnessing an endless line of people trying to get a dining res anywhere. I would plan on eating counter service or get an ADR anywhere you can find.
One year we were at Epcot and a long line of guests stretched out the door to Guests Services. There was signage reading nothing was available for sit down meals. A CM was going down the line saying nothing was available for sit down. People still stood and were hoping to get something.
What puzzled us was later we saw where the old millenium village was, they had opened it up and were accepting walk up for a buffet. Why no one said this at GS, I have no idea. It apparently was strictly walk up or word of mouth.
But on NYE even the popcorn lines may be 20 people deep.
And having an ADR inside a park will not guarantee admittance into that park.
You may want to see if anything is available a really off time, like mid afternoon.

I don't know if they are still available as I canceled this morning, but I canceled the following for NYE because I had to cancel my trip:

Rose & Crown-2:50 pm (I think) for 2 adults
Chefs de France-10:30 pm for 2 adults

Hope you find something!

I believe you have slim to no chance of walking into a park restaurant on New Year's Eve. You might want to try some out of the way restaurants in resorts, but on that particular night even those might be full, and if you want to be in a park later you might want to consider whether the parks will close for capacity. Decide if you want to be in a park for the day - if you do, keep trying to get any sort of reservation there - people do cancel.

If a theme park is closed for capacity, you will not be allowed in even if you have a restaurant ADR. Magic Kingdom is the most likely park to close for capacity. If you intend to spend the evening there, you probably need to be there early and stay there. If that's the plan, eat counter service and be prepared for lines.

Walk ups will not happen on NYE. But keep trying someone might cancel between that time.

What you may also want to do is check out ALL the counter service options at the park you are planning on going to (assuming you get in, of course). There are many, many good choices that do not involve hamburgers and fries.

Where are you wanting to go, anyway?
