Walk me through transferring an OBB to a Costco travel agent?

We booked a placeholder cruise on the Magic yesterday, and we have figured out which cruise we would like to book. We became Costco members in the past year and would like to transfer our cruise to Costco for the additional Costco gift card. I assume I need to call Costco and give them our reservation number? Will they automatically also apply the 10% discount? Anything else I need to know? Thanks so much!

Call Costco and they will send you a form to fill out and sign. You then return the form to Cosrco. Just make sure you do it before 30 days is up. And they usually need 3 business days to process the form through Disney so don't wait until the last day.

If you want insurance, they have pretty good rates through Travel Guard. I've booked two Disney cruises through Costco and they have been great.

Yes, like the pp said, call Costco. Make sure you have your costco membership number and DCL reservation number handy. They will want both and will probably ask the date of booking (to make sure you are within the 30 day window). Then they will email you a form to fill out. Sometimes it comes right away. Sometimes they send it the next business day. You fill out the form, email or fax it back, and call them after 72 hours to confirm (you can check to see if it's been processed by logging into DCL. If the options to change stateroom, etc. are gone, it's been processed and you can call sooner).

It's a bit of a hassle, but for the 9% or so back as a cash card it's well worth it!

Thanks so much! I'm still waiting for my email confirmation from DCL (always seems like it takes a few days), but then I will call Costco right away.

One more quick question. Once I pick a cruise and transfer to Costco, can I still switch dates, categories, number of guests, etc. as long as it is before the PIF date?

Once you pick a cruise, you will have locked in the rates for any category on that particular cruise and for those passengers named at that time. If you change cruise dates, fares will change. If you add a passenger later, I don't believe that passenger will receive the OBB discount plus the fare will be at the prevailing rates; it's always easier to drop passenger(s) than try to add. ANY of these changes -- cruise date, stateroom category, passengers added/removed -- will need to be done through Costco.

Enjoy your cruise!

I just received the transfer form from Costco. I know now which cruise we want to book. Would I be better off to book the cruise on the DCL site and then list the info on the transfer form and email it to Costco, or leave the cruise info blank on the transfer form and call and book the cruise with Costco once the transfer is completed?

Do you have a placeholder or an actual date booked (that you wish to change)? A placeholder must be booked by phone; an actual date you should be able to change online yourself. If you like the current fares, I'd book before the transfer to Costco. Fares likely won't go up in a few days, but you never know. Then transfer it tomorrow.

Enjoy your cruise!

Just a placeholder. So call DCL and book and then fill out the transfer paperwork to Costco?
