Walk me through embarkation day...need tips for first-time cruisers!

How frustrating Kerry!

They need to open up the line earlier and only take those who want it on the tour!

Most people that I know (not just from these boards, either) research what they want to do before they even board the ship. It is unfair for the spa team to try to force people through the tour. Maybe the employees need some training on how to sell people on the various treatments without taking them physically through the tour.

With the spa booked like it is, it doesn't sound like they are missing out on too much business. There are other opportunities to upsell customers once they come for their appts.

Did you get an opportunity to fill out a comment card somewhere and tell them to discontinue this lame practice? Hopefully so and someone from Disney (or the company that manages the spa) will make the necessary changes- that sounds very frustrating to me and a waste of a good hour with your family.

Thanks for sharing your experience- it helps us all to be prepared!

I just wanted to say that I found the "Passporter Guide to the Disney Cruise Line" very helpful for specifics such as what to do on the first day, where to go to get what ressies etc.

You can also go to a site which has Navigators from previous cruises to get an idea of what time ressies start for each activity and where the ressies are taken. If you search "castaway club" you should get the website - not sure if that will get ****'d, but if so, if you search forDCL Navigators it will probably come up.

Good luck.

Also, I had heard that the Spa tour was optional - but have no firsthand knowledge.

I haven't had time at the computer over the weekend so I am just now getting these answers to my posted questions.
Thanks so much. I have filled out those cardboard pages in those travel passes/booklets that I received. I am glad to know that I am all set.
I did purchase the "Passporter Guide" and I am in the middle of reading it. It is really helpful!!!!! I will definitely carry that around with me during the cruise!
Confal1, I just sent you a PM. I can't wait to meet you and your family on the shuttle! :wave2:  :wave2:

When are we supposed to get the forms? We are going on points for DVC for December. All we got was a confirmation. btw, thanks for all the info. I'm pasting it in one file to have. This has been great.

You problably won't get them until about 2 weeks before you leave. Sometimes its longer (a month?) sometimes a little shorter.

If you haven't gotten them 7-10 days before you leave, make sure to call.

If you are planning on not being home before your cruise (a self booked week at Disney), make sure your TA knows.
