Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour 2016 Questions

I did it (I'm the poster ahead of you!) on Friday, July 1st. It was fabulous. We rode Alice and PotC (HM was down so a quick change was made). We spent a solid hour in the Dream Suite. I knew more about some aspects of Disneyland than our guide, but I still learned a LOT. Our group was a little unique in that there were only three of us on the tour - our guide said she'd NEVER seen a group quite that small before.

My DH let me do the tour by myself, judging that he wasn't enough of a Disneyana buff to make it worthwhile, but, honestly, the Dream Suite is worth the price of admission, and, now that we'll have an AP discount this year, I'm going to try to get him to take it, too. My DD8 would LOVE it. In addition, the lunch and souvenir pin (this sucker would go for $30 or more in the Pin area of World of Disney) add even more value.

Awesome! Thank you so much for the reply! I will pass along the info!

Seriously, even if your friends know everything there is to know about Walt and the first parks, it would still be worth it to take the tour, as seeing it makes all the difference, especially the Dream Suite. And the tour isn't just your guide talking - it's interspersed with sound bytes from Walt and others from the opening day and other events.

Oh yeah, definitely the Dream Suite part would make it worth it. One of my friends was fortunate enough to be able to tour the Dream Suite a couple of years back with one of the Imagineers who designed and built it so she has already seen and experienced it but I know she would love to go back. The others haven't seen it yet and I know it is on their bucket list.

Question about timing. We are looking at the 9:30 and have seen the tour takes ~ 3 1/2 hours. Does that include eating time? We would be touring on a Friday Morning in September.

My tour took, yes, about 3-1/2 hours, including food. I missed my FP time for RSR as a result, but it was worth it. Mine started at 10:30, and it was after 2:00 when I rejoined the rest of my family (who didn't go).

I'm taking this tour a week from today. Do they stop to break for lunch in the middle of the tour, or is your food just ready at the end?

We're taking the 9:30 tour, though, so maybe they'll just wait till the end. Not that it really matters, but I think I'd like to enjoy lunch at my own pace (which admittedly is super fast, because I'll want to go ride some more!)

We did the 0930 tour a few weeks ago, you have lunch then the Dream suite
It was a lovely tour.

Any 2017 updates on this tour?

I did the tour last Friday, February 9th. It was a really great tour. So much history. One thing I liked about this tour is that you hear audio clips. For example, you hear Walt's dedication during the grand opening of Disneyland.

When you check in you are shown your lunch choices. There was a salad and a couple of sandwiches as options. You also get to choose a beverage and a dessert. I don't like coconut, so I went with the sugar cookie. But if you like coconut, go for the Matterhorn macaroon. There was also a flour-less chocolate cake.

I don't want to give too much away and spoil the magic of the tour. But you start on Main Street and basically go through most of the different lands. I don't recall really going through Tomorrowland though. After lunch, we did get an opportunity to go through the Dream Suite. All I can say is, WOW.

Overall, the tour was really fun and highly informative. Well worth the time and cost.

Awesome! Thank you. I am considering it for my son and I...do you think it will keep an almost 8 year olds attention? What rides did you go on?

Whether or not the tour will keep an 8 year old's attention will really depend on the child. If they are really a big fan of Walt Disney the person and the history of Disneyland, then yes, they will love this tour. If they are more interested in just going on rides, then the tour may be a bit boring for them.

There is a fair amount of walking and then stopping at different locations to hear the cast member provide details about various historic items/events in Disneyland history. The audio clips, at least to me, were a really nice touch and just added that extra thing that makes you realize that Walt Disney actually walked here.

We rode two rides, both in Fantasyland. First up was Alice in Wonderland and then It's a Small World.

Hope this helps!
