An accessible room wouldn't be considered a "regular" room would it? You could certainly make a request for an accessible room with a shower at check-in but no guarantees you'll get it.

Fair enough, but OP could make a request when checking in (or by calling member services and requesting they put a note on the reservation) for a handicap accessible room with a shower when checking in if they prefer a shower. But obviously like I said that is just a request and not guaranteed.

No, but if you need a walk-in shower (as opposed to just preferring it) then it’s not unreasonable to book an accessible room that has one. Be sure to read the descriptions for the various types of HA rooms - there are variations that might be important to you.
