Walk from WLV to Fort Wilderness?

We will be staying at WLV for the first time and planning to go over to Fort Wilderness for Trail's End Buffet & maybe the campfire. Can we walk or is it best to take the boat??

Its any easy walk in the daylight, but is not lit at night. Better to take the boat.

Probably less than 15 minute walk ---- I've only done it when it's brutal hot and humid, so I didn't truly enjoy it. If it were comfortable weather, it would be a nice walk.
The boats are wonderful --- about 5 minutes, if the boat is direct and not going to the MK first.

I would not take the walk to the campground at night. It's downright scary without lights, and the insects are huge! I've never seen insects that large in Michigan--ever!! I didn't enjoy it at all. However, during the day it is an enjoyable, relaxing walk of about 15 minutes.

Great daytime bike/hike but as stated...no lights. Insects...I guess that all depends on the time of year.
