A friend of mine is adamant that she walked from POR to SSR to DTD. Is this possible? It doesn't seem right to me. She could not recall how long it took, but she claims that she is sure that she did it.

I suppose it is possible, perhaps she walked onto the golf course and then just followed the cart paths on the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th holes to the clubhouse which is right next door to SSR. Probably not much more than a mile or so. And then to DTD, perhaps another 3/4 mile.

You're not suppose to be walking on the golf courses, but I have seen people doing it, and if a ranger doesn't come along no one will probably say anything.

There are no sidewalks from POR to SSR along side of the roads. So if she went that way she would have had to walk on the grass along side the walk, and I'm sure someone would have stopped her for doing that, and it would be a fairly long walk from POR to DTD, about 2 1/2 miles.

She must have gone through some woods between the golf course and POR. There is no way, she stayed along the river or canal. Once she got out to the golf course, then it is a walk and over a few bridges to SSR and DTD. With the random snakes, bugs, no way. She had to walk at least a quarter of a mile in the woods.

Can you? Yes. But, it is going to take a long time. And while there are various walkways between POR and POFQ, and then over to OKW, you do have to leave the public walkways at OKW and walk on the golf course, using the cart paths, then cross several bridges before reaching SSR.
Waaaay too much trouble for most people.

That actually sound like a delightful walk. (except for the heat) I would enjoy the scenery of the river, the golf course, and the woods. As for the bugs and snakes, we go walking and hiking many times on vacation, and you simply look out for those critters. I'm staying at POR our next trip, and looking to eat at Turf Club at SSR for dinner one night. IF it wasnt so dang hot and humid I'd try this walk.....

I would take the Ferry to DTD and then walk to SSR, walk back to DTD and catch the Ferry again.

Me and my dh love walking too. Last year, when we checked into POR, we took the Ferry to DTD and I forgot to put bug spray on. I got bit by a bug on my shin and ankle on the ferry. It itched all week. So, I can imagine what is in the woods, next to the canal, it has to be a breading ground for mosquito's and jiggers.

From building 95 to the 15th tee it is only a 100 yards or so and practically no trees at that point, and from there it is only a mile walk to SSR lobby following the cart paths.
I'll let you know for sure in a week because I'll be playing there and I'll check it out.

I don't believe there is a walkway between POFQ and OKW is there. You would have to walk in the grass along side the road, and if Security saw you I would suppose they would stop you.

Actually the walk described in my previous post is only about a mile, that is the same as walking from DHS to the YC. Or another way of looking at it would be from the lobby of POR to lobby of SSR is the same as walking from DHS to Epcot IG.

I'm not advocating walking from POR to SSR via the golf course, because it is clearly not allowed. There are signs posted on the golf courses that walking, jogging or biking is prohibited. But many think those signs don't apply to them.

Oops -- sorry, I thought the question was OKW to DTD. I'm not aware of a path from Port Orleans.

There is a paved path that runs along the east & south side of the canal that the boats use between OKW and DTD. It runs along the edge of the golf course, but is separate from the golf cart paths, except for the bridges at OKW & SSR which are used by the carts. There's also a bridge at the Tree Houses.

Entry at OKW is opposite the Southpoint Pool, between villas 54 & 55. The DTD end comes out at the parking lot behind Cirque and HOB, running along the water's edge.

I can't find it any official maps or any info about it on the internal web site, but I have seen guests jogging on it. I think I even saw some lighting along it.
