Can anyone who's stayed at the Anabellla Hotel tell me how long of a walk it is to DTD? I am really interested in staying there for our upcoming trip. We've stayed a few places on Harbor and would like to try something different. The Anabella looks really nice, but I'm concerned of how long a walk it is. Also, can you walk through the Grand Californian? Does it save any time if you do?

I had the same question last week and i was told the walk is perfectly doable and that indeed, you can cut throughh the GC

I was wondering if it was better to walk to the pacific hotel and take the tram from the parking lot...
Edited: sorry, i meant the paradise pier hotel

There is no tram anymore as parking has changed alot in the last decade. The lot near the Paradise Peir hotel is called Simba and is only used on very busy days. Trams only run to the parking garage now.

The walk from the Annabella is about 12 minutes to DTD and 15 to the park gates.

It's about a 12-15 minute walk, and it's perfectly do-able. You go to the crosswalk and Disneyland Drive/Katella and head down Disneyland Dr., onto the giant "Mickey Head" sidewalk and then through the Grand Californian. Then it's just the walk through half of Downtown Disney.

It really can make a difference which part of the Anabella you're in, however. The property spans about a block and so if you're on the end closer to the Convention Center, rather than the end closest to Disneyland Drive, you've got to walk all of that, too.

I kinda like being on this side of the park (as opposed to Harbor Blvd.) It may not be as "close," but you hardly have to leave the magic and there's so much more interesting stuff along the way. You can always stop for a break in the Grand CA and sit in the lobby for a bit if you have time. :thumbsup2

G'day

We have stayed at the Annabella a few times.

As far as walking there in the morning yes its about 10-15 minutes and you cut thru GCH, it is always a nice confortable walk.

You can also take the street bus (20 mins schedule) and the Anabella has tickets avaiable to buy from a vending machine and it drops you off at the main bus area at the East entrance to DL/CA.

I will advise one word of caution on the walk home. After spending 8-14 hours at the park the walk seems much longer :) previously we have a dance group and the smaller girls (5 in total and all under 9) were dogged tired so we took a taxi from the GCH, it was only $10 btu the girls were much happier. The taxi driver on the other hand was no but thats another story.

As far as the Anabella goes it is still my fav place to stay, the recent visit we were at Hyatt on Harbour Blvd....i prefer the Anabella.

cheers and enjoy

We stayed at The Annabella a few years ago. We decided to fly down and "do" Christmas at Disneyland and got an $85/night rate through AAA. Our room was really nice-hardwood floors, recently remodeled, etc.

The walk was less than 15 minutes door to front gate. Very easy walk. At the end of a big day though it seems much longer than that though.

It's a very pleasant and pretty walk. It's a little curvier rather than a straight line, but if you look at a satellite image you'll see it's b/c you're walking in a giant "hidden" Mickey. On our walk in, DS was saying "now we're on his right cheek, now we're on his right ear"....which made it much more fun than "WHY does this path twist and turn like this?" like we did the FIRST time we stayed at Anabella....

And yes, you definitely want to go through the Grand, then on out to DTD and the esplanade to the parks.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think it's more of a walk than I want. We've stayed at the Marriott Convention Center before and it was a long walk after a long day. I think I'll wait and see if there are any Disney hotel offers to come along.

I agree with the previous posted times. The walk really is not so bad, and it isn't much farther than when staying at the Disneyland hotel. We once did a split stay 2 nights at the Anabella and 2 nights at the Disneyland hotel and it wasn't much longer than the walk from the far side of the Disneyland hotel.

Thanks for starting this thread. I will be staying at the Anabella the first week in June. The walk doesn't sound bad at all, I'm used of plenty of walking when I go to WDW. We usually stay onsite in one of the larger WDW resorts with lots of walking to get to the room, this sounds about the same. Has anyone every went thru the GCH park entrance, if you're not staying there? just wondering if it was possible--or will they check for your room key?

Usually it's little problem after DCA's stated opening hours, but can be very restricted to resort guests only during the early open hour.

I didn't know the tram didn't work anymore from PP hotel, so thanks for pointing that out!

If the OP allows me, may I hijack this thread a tiny bit just to know if anyone knows anything about the "suite casita room"? That's what our travel agent sold us and we know it has an extra bed separated from the main bedroom, but does that mean that it has 2 TVs?

also if Anabella hotel has a laundromat and also how much they charge for breakfast? Our rate doesn't include breakfast, and i'm not sure of what the breakfast options are.
Thanks!

Yes, the Casita room has two tv's. There is a restaurant onsite where you could have breakfast--prices are reasonable. There are fridges, coffee makers and microwaves in the room, too, so you could always get your own breakfast stuff to have on hand.

I have never used the laundry room, but the web site says there is one. My only complaint about the Anabella is how much they nickel and dime you there, so beware. You'll have to pay for parking and for internet--so be aware of that.

Thank you very much!
I didn't know about the microwave, the website doesn't say it has it. That's awesome news!
And yes i know they charge for everything :( but we got really good rates for what Spanish travel agencies offer in the area

Thanks again!

You've gotten your specific answer about the room; I was going to say that our Mission Suite room had two TVs, so the rooms "higher" than that should, too.

Their website does have good images of the rooms, by the way.

The laundry room is small, but not awful to be in. My son and I had a one night stay extended to a two night stay because he got tremendously ill in the middle of the first night, and before my brother (lives in San Diego) drove up to rescue us, I had to do laundry. I didn't come prepared for it, but had enough change, or dollars for change, with me to do the laundry, so it can't have been that much.

The washers and dryers worked, well, too. Since we recently had a problem with dryers at one of the WDW "villa" resorts, that impresses me in retrospect! :)

thanks a lot for the info about the laundry room! we want to pack light this time :D

I took a look at the pics at the anabella hotel website but it didn't show things clear for me (that's what led me to ask :) )and my DH was sad that we might only get one TV and that it would be at the adjoining small room (he loves watching TV in bed and I do too! :goodvibes)
Are you saying that the suite casita room is higher than mission suite? I thought it was the other way around :)

The Casita Suite is smaller than the Mission Suite. It's a regular hotel room with a small room with a daybed in it. The daybed room has a flat screen tv on the wall. There's a little loveseat in the main room at the foot of the bed. I've stayed in both. :thumbsup2

The casita sounds like it might be just the same as the Mission, since what you described is just about what we were in. Though maybe the regular part of the room is bigger? I thought the Casita was "higher" on the list, but I suppose I was wrong. Not a surprise; the rooms kept swapping places on the list when I was booking through hotels.com (I had a free night to use).

The main room is much bigger in the Mission Suite and the bathroom is, too (the bathroom in the Mission Suite was HUGE and the area with the mirror and vanity outside the main bathroom was REALLY long. It's 346 sf as opposed to 295 sf for the casita suite. The Mission Suite also has a sofabed loveseat. Casita just has a loveseat. We also had a nice little front patio area with our Mission Suite, which was nice. I don't know if those are available for all the suites, but I do know that they told us at the front desk that the Casitas were all in this one section of the hotel that was on the opposite side of the property from where our Mission Suite was (the closest building for walking to the parks), and I didn't see any patios in that building.

The hotel itself used to be three separate motels years ago before it was bought up and converted into the Anabella. That's how huge the grounds are. It really is a big property and they've done a nice job at making it attractive and cohesive. :thumbsup2

So then the a suite casita room doesn't have 2 TVs? only one in the daybed room?
DH is going to be dissappointed, he'd rather have the TV where the main bed is ;)

looks like we'll have to be prepared to WALK ;) (I guess this is useful for the OP)
