Wake-up call from Mickey

How do you get a wake-up call? I don't know if I will be able to get either of my 2 DDs to answer the phone (oh, won't that end in the next few years) as they are rather shy about the phone, but I think it's worth a try.

At the very least, it should put a smile on DHs face!

Just returned from POP Century. We had daily wake up calls from "Mickey". I just dialed "zero" on the in room phone and requested a wake up call at a specified time.

I always answer the phone myself, since there is usually some "dead air" followed by a short musical interlude prior to Mickey speaking. I didn't realize that during our first stay at a WDW Resort, so I hung up on Mickey every morning!

Anyway, I speak to the dead air as I gently wake DD, saying, "Hi Mickey!!! Oh, you'd like to speak with Beth? OK, hold on a minute..."

Mickey speaks a brief monologue about how he can't wait to have a great time today. But DD keeps speaking to him (or rather, to more dead air) for about 3 minutes after that. It's so much fun to watch and a great way to start our day.

Yet another priceless Disney touch that I think really makes it worth the extra money to stay on-property!

when the phone rings hit the speakerphone button! don't answer it the traditional way! that way everyone can hear the wake up call :)

I agree about using the speaker phone feature.

We were at AK in September and their phones had a special button on it for wake up calls. It was totally automated, just punch in the time you wanted the call.

same system at pop century... although one time i hit the pre-programmed wake up call button and it put me thru to a live person, which i did not expect... she took my wake up call request and all was well :)

On the trip we just returned from it was myself and my 2 kids sharing a room with one of my girlfriends and her 2 kids. With two 4 year olds and two 2 year olds EVERYONE would want to answer so what we did was request a wake up call not for the time we wanted to wake up (we used the alarm for that) but rather for about 10 minutes before it was time to leave for whatever park we were headed to that morning. When the phone rang we used the speaker phone so everyone could hear Mickey. He doesn't say "wake up" so it made sense. He says something about time to get going...big doin's happening today. Perfect for an "OK, everybody put your shoes on and get in the stroller! Mickey says it's time to go!" call. :teeth:

I just wished we'd had the video camera going the first day we did this. Their expressions were absolutely priceless!

At the WL, one of our morning wake up calls was from a CM. I'm glad that I didn't give my son the phone, he would have been confusing to talk to. I wonder if they were having trouble with the system that morning.
