Now that this thread is talking about resales, I would like to buy a resale but for the amouont of points I want (75 - 100) the current owner has usually already borrowed sometimes into 2010, so I don't see the value if I purchase and don't get anything for my money until sometime one and 1/2 years from now. I currenlty own 175 pts. at SS, and would love to add on at another resort. Until current oweners reduce their prices enough to make up for the fact that I can't use any of the resale points for a year or two, then I will just have to be patient. With the stock market today, I can be really patient when it comes to spending my money.![]()
you bring a very valid point that is often overlooked......
many who choose to resell their contracts borrow all the points from the next usage year and gobble them up before selling.....
so you could conceivably buy a resale that won't have anything available for 1-2 years......
and.....you will pay the maintenance fee in the interim for points already used by someone else.....
that is very dishonest....in my opinion
Dishonest would be if they tod you that you had points to use and you didn't.Dishonest is not selling the product and disclosing the conditions!
If you take the deal there's nothing "dishonest" Now when I have sold a "stripped" contract I paid the dues, that was part of the sales agreement.
And what the kids may very well be wondering is why Mom and Dad bought at SSR thinking they would WANT to pay dues on it.
IMHO assuming that you are "leaving" a timeshare to someone as an asset is not really a good idea. You are leaving someone something that requires CASH, that they may not have and/or may not want to spend. And I really doubt the "resale" on a contract with 10 -15 years left is going to be that good.
If you try to look at DVC as an investment you are in for a disappointment. In most cases you would give your heirs more if you took the thousands you spent on DVC and the dues and invested it for them!
Buy a timeshare because YOU want to use it, not "to leave to the kids" The kids may very well not want it!
Let's get back on topic and keep the discussion to the Food and Wine waitlists.
Well I went on the waitlist for either BW or BC studio or 1 bedroom well after 7 months and cleared BW so I think that it's probably just your dates.
Yes, it does make sense that you could be the 15%. It's not 15% per day, that's an OVERALL success rate. I have a feeling the sucess rate for Epcot Resorts during food/wine for weekdays is significantly lower.
yeah...well....
to repeat....we booked okw at 9:07 on the day of the 7 month window and went on for beach, boardwalk, and wilderness lodge.....
21 days to go and nothing......
so i guess we'll just have to eliminate october from our travel months.....along with december, march, april, june, july....and any day off that falls outside of those months.....
membership is magical....![]()
Or you will just have to buy points at the resort where you really want to stay so you can book prior to 7 months. We recently sold some OKW points that we bought in 1997 and bought an equivalent number at BCV just for F&W.
With more and more members (and more to come with BLT and THV coming on, not to mention GCV and Hawaii...) the competition at 7 months is getting tougher and tougher.
