My family is currently booked for two nights at SSRa NFC the next two nights at BLT due to availability. I went ahead and wait listed the stay for all four nights at BLT. We are new to this process and I have a couple questions, your feedback would be greatly appreciated and helpful.

How do they notify you if your wait list has been granted?

Are wait lists typically granted?

Thank you all in advance.

A lot depends on when you are booked. Normally you will see a change in the vacations booked on the website and you might get notification from DVC through an email that your waitlist has come through. You would be better off just waitlisting the 2 nights you need at BLT and if it comes through then linking the 2 stays if DVC doesn't automatically. Waitlists are not granted becuiase DVC wants to you will recieve a waitlist only if a different member cancels their reservation for the room you want.

I would also suggest checking periodically for availability on the member website for your waitlisted days. If they are available book them and cancel your waitlist. From what I understand Member Services fills waitlists at a certain time each day, not necessarily when your dates become available. Last time we waitlisted I saw the dates I wanted were available but my waitlist hadn't been filled, so I booked them and canceled my waitlist.

I've only had one waitlist that worked. The others never were fulfilled. The one that was good was for one night. Short stays are a lot easier to get than longer stays.

I just had one come thru that in my eyes was pure pixie dust! I had booked AKL (that and SSR only thing available when I booked early May for an August trip) and about a month later decided to waitlist for BWV. Now, my reservation is for Aug 15 - 20, studio, so no way did I ever expect it to go thru since that's when the "season/points" change and go down. Well, exactly 30 days out from our arrival I received an email that looked like it was just confirming our reservation, because that's all it was - the regular confirmation e mail. But when I clicked on the reservation number "to see the details", low and behold there were the words "Boardwalk Villas" instead of "Animal Kingdom Villas". So while nothing directly said "waitlist granted" in that e mail, it DID happen. :thumbsup2 Sending pixie dust your way!!

Thank you for the pixie dust, now we shall have a little faith....lol. Our reservations are over thanksgiving which just so happens to be our daughters birthday. Thank you all for your comments and support.

We've had very good luck with wait lists both at the resorts & on the cruise line. That being said Thanksgiving maybe tough, but you never know. GoodLuck. pixiedust:
