We're waitlisted for a Grand Villa @ SSR or BLT - January 5-7.
I've read on here that many people call repeatedly to check up on availability.

Should I do that or is being waitlisted in the system enough?

Some people are convinced it helps.

Some people aren't.

I have never bothered to call and cleared all but a few waitlists (And one of those was AKV Concerige the weekend of the Disney marathon... chances were always basically non existent :) )

I would only call if you want to check any other resorts than the two you have waitlisted already. For example we are doing a split stay with a couple of days at Universal in the middle. Our first three days are at Saratoga, we are waitlisted at BLT and BWV for those days. I have been calling occasionally to see if any of the other resorts are available.

Did I say Yes;)

I have been on the waitlist for BLT for 3 months for 9/22 for one night before our week at BCV and it was not coming through and I was sad :sad1: becasue we were coming in a day early and really wanted to stay there. This morning I was up early to take my daughter to work and thought I would try calling agian. I was on the wait list for a one bdr lakeview or a 2 bdr theme park and when I have been calling nothing in any view for any room has been avilable and this morning they had three 2 bdrs lakeview rooms. Yipee  I grabbed one quickly but stayed on the waitlist for the theme park view. Calling really made a difference,

Good Luck

I agree....I only call to see if other options other than the 2 I've wait listed for are available

Believe it or not, the CMs actually encouraged me to call every day - and low and behold, we got our waitlist for end of October in late July after 4 days of calling (after waiting 6 weeks for the process to work on its own without calling). Coincidence? Possibly, but I have a feeling their computer match up system isn't as efficient as it could be, although the CMs stopped short of saying that....but why else would they suggest it?

I am in the camp that calling can't hurt. Especially since as others have said you can only have the 2 WL, if you are willing to stay somewhere else then calling ot check on other DVC resorts I think would give you greater chance to get something. Although it does seem that the shorter the stay the better your chances are. We had 2 WL for November and then decided anything would do. After calling several times a week we did finally get a room (not one on the WL) but were very pleased with reservation nontheless. Good Luck and enjoy your trip.

I would agree that calling can't hurt. After seeing your thread I called about our waitlist but it hasn't come through and since we leave soon I doubt it will. Oh well.

Last year we were waitlisted for BLT for the marathon - three nights only. I called a few times and the CM told me there was no point in calling that if it was available, I would get it. I never did.
