Newbie here...

I am attempting to make my first reservation since buying at SSR. My hope was to go to Hilton Head in July. I am currently on the waitlist.

Does anyone have any waitlist experience? Do you think we have a chance, or, should I look at one of the other resorts? Will Disney tell me where I am on the waitlist?

Thanks, much!

I am waitlist frustrated!!! I was waitlisted for 2/20 at SSR, didn't come thru (Ihave 2/21-2/24), I know have to call every 5 minutes for a chance of it coming through! I do know that since its so close, the inventory is the same, whether cash or points, but I really wish they could keep the waitlist searching instead of having you call all the time, seems like a waste of time, energy and money! I am doubtful that it will come through, but you never know!

I was waitlisted, for a standard view 1BR, at BWV for the first week in November, this past year. I think I was waiting for a month or two, before it came through.

They can't tell you where you are on the waitlist.

You have a while, I wouldn't give up hope.

ETA...I waitlisted day-by-day.

I just got confirmed today for the final night of our 6 night stay in June at HHI in a 2br villa. We were waitlisted for nights 2 & 3. Night 3 came through almost immediately (Dec) and night 2 was just confirmed today (Feb). I really thought it would be impossible to get these ressies for prime time in HHI...but they came through!! WooHoo!! :cool1:

When I called, I requested July 3-10. Should I have asked for each of the days separately?

Thanks for helping me out on this!!

That's up to you. You chance that all your days may not become available, meaning you will have to move. I only had three days to fill in (my last two days were available when I called at the 7 month mark).

I really don't have much experience waitlisting. I'm sure someone else, who has done it more than I did, can answer your question.

Good luck!

I can't speak for HHI, which I understand is very hard to get into during the summer months. But by and large, there are many, many more stories of success than failure on the waitlist. When people are often booking trips nearly a year in advance, it's often inevitable that plans will change.

Our first trip Home was re-booked 3 times before we decided on the final dates, resort and room size.

Couple questions about the waitlist..... When do they make the inventory the same from cash to points? Do you still call them daily when your on the waitlist? thanks for the info mike

I don't know what you mean, in your first question, but to answer your second question...I didn't call daily, when I was on the waitlist. I opted for the automatic switchover (I know that's not exactly what it's called) instead of MS calling me, and waiting for me to get back to them to let them know if I still wanted the room.

I do know that since its so close, the inventory is the same, whether cash or points

I was thinking that MS and CS ran on the same data base when it got close to the dates that you where going. So my question would be is this true and when does this take place if it is..... thanks sorry it wasnt clear

60 days out all unbooked DVC rooms are available to cash paying customers via CRO.

Regarding the waitlist, when you ask to be waitlisted for a stay, that request only stays active until 30 days before check-in. At the 30-day mark, if you still want to waitlist, you need to call and be placed on the waitlist again. This second waitlist runs until 7 days prior to check-in.

If a room becomes available during either of these windows, it will either be automatically booked or you will be called to confirm that you still want the room (you must specify which process when you ask to be placed on the waitlist.)

During the timeframe above, there is no value in contacting DVC (unless you want to re-confirm that you are on the list.) They cannot tell you where you might be in line for a room, or provide any other details.

At 7 days prior to check-in, there is no more waitlist. This is the point at which calls would commence. Any cancellation in those last 7 days immediately leaves the room open for any booking. So, it's first-come, first-served between CRO and DVC members. I can see some folks calling on the hour within the last 7 days if they are really stressed about getting a room.

Hope that helps.
