I am currently on the waitlist for 3 days at bcv. If I get 2 of 3 days can I book one day through Disney and pay cash for the room? Will I have to change rooms? I would book a villa and same room type.

Also, how reliable is the waitlist system? My stay isn't until March but it's a busy time of the year.

March is not busy for DVC, so you've got that in your favor.

However, waitlists only match if the entire request matches. And you can only have two requests? How do you have your waitlist set up? One 3-day stay? Or separate requests for one day and two days?

Yes, if you have two days, you could book the third directly, but you'd need to ensure that it's the exact same room type or you'll have to move in the middle of your stay.

I'll have to check how the waitlist is set up. So I need to have separate requests for each day.

You're limited to two waitlists, so you won't be able to waitlist each day for three days.

If I check availability and see a day is available can I call and apply to the waitlist?

If I saw it, I would grab it and then call and have them remove it from my waitlist (note: only if it was the beginning or end of the waitlist days... I wouldn't want to add more moves to my trip)

I agree. I did this for a stay in mid November 2013. Due to work conflicts, I had to change my dates about 2 months out, I had a boardwalk view studio at BWV. Of course, totally booked. Since a pool/garden view was my best shot, I waitlisted the 5 nights, Sunday to Thursday nights. I booked a room with an AP discount as a backup. I checked the online system frequently. Wednesday & Thursday nights opened fairly quickly, so I booked those and changed my waitlist to 3 nights. Then a couple weeks after, Monday & Tuesday night came open. I booked it and changed the waitlist. Sunday night did come through by waitlist about 28 days out. Member Services booked it and then combined the 3 reservations into 1. I then cancelled the AP discount room. It takes some work but it might be worth it. I would check now if any of your nights are open.

This gives me hope. Unfortunately I can't check myself. I have to rely on others.

I've got a 1-bed at OKW booked for November, but would prefer to change it to a 7-day at a studio at GFV as it will make it far more convenient for us and will also give us 50 points back to use on our next trip in 2017. I waitlisted GFV months ago. It has been said that if anything becomes available it will happen at the 45-day mark when people drop their reservations before making final payment.

The thing is, we obviously can't rely on that. Would it be possible to add the Poly or BLT studios as a waitlist? Also, do you get any sort of priority for your waitlist preference if it's your home resort?

The problem was that by the time I found out that my 100 points would expire by September if I didn't use them, we had to book something, and by then the only week-long availability was for OKW which is not our first choice. Okay, it's the biggest, but it's also sprawled out and we had enough problems with multiple bus stops when we stayed at CBR last year!

The likelihood of getting a full week in a studio at a monorail resort during the highest demand period for DVC seems exceeding slim; practically impossible.

There is no "paid in full" date for DVC. Cash inventory is completely separate and not available to members. You might have some luck around the 30 day window where cancelled reservations result in points returned in "holding" status.

You can only have two active waitlists at any given time.

The only priority your home resort affords you is the 11 month advantage. You don't get any priority on the waitlists.

Are you a new member who recently purchased at PVB? I think there are some specifics that you might now be fully aware of. There are some great threads here that will really fill you in on how DVC really works.

Yes, we bought in March. We don't regret buying, but do regret not buying resale as we could have got more points for our money at a cheaper resort, point-wise. The only two available to us were GFV and the Poly. In the end we opted for GFV beause the annual charge was lower. We were certainly not warned that the chances of getting an alternative resort at 7 months was remote or we may not have bothered!

We'd much rather travel mid-end February as that's my brithday and also DD's, but unfortunately that's slap-bang in the middle of Dream Season which sadly we can't afford.

Some villas are not available for cash. So if you have booked that category and are trying to fill in nights with cash, it might not happen.
