Waitlist question....

I am looking for a total of 4 nights at a resort. I am currently holding the first 2 nights in one room type (let's call it "A") and the last 2 nights in a different room type (let's call it "B"). Obviously, I want all 4 the same, preferring room B if I could.

Currently, I have 2 wait-list requests, 1 for the first night in room B and the second for the second night in room B.

I am holding the room A and B reservations to ensure I have a place to sleep covering all 4 nights and will obviously give up the A room once/if the B room reservations show up.

Am I better off with the two individual 1 night wait-lists or should I be holding the 2 nights as a pair with one wait-list request?

Which is the "recommended" way to go after particular nights to complete a trip requirement?

All thoughts appreciated...

Have you ever found that you have a wait-list request for a room, and the wait-list still sits there unfulfilled when you can go look at availability and see that the room IS available and you can book it?

That has happened twice so far at two different resorts. Any ideas why?

What I would have probably done is have a wait list in room B for the 2nd night and the other wait list in room B for both nights.

If the one night became available before the two nights, I would then adjust the wait list for just one night.

The way you have it set up know could have night 1 come available and not night 2 which would require 2 moves, not one.

And, yes, I have seen that happen. IMO, it is because we know have the ability to book and cancel online at all hours. When someone cancels a room after MS hours, it is going to show up online. No one knows for sure how the computer runs the wait list matches, whether it is once a day, several times a day, at night, etc. But, from what I have seen, its not an automatic thing so if rooms are canceled in between the runs to match, others are getting those rooms.
